1. Closing Soon: Philly Celebrates Jazz

Philadelphia is one of the signature cities that merges art, music, culture, fashion, and entertainment seamlessly. Through the entire month of April, The City of Brotherly Love has been hosting several events celebrating the wonderful genre of Jazz. Don’t miss out on the last weekend of live performances, discussions, parties, and gatherings.

2. Closing Soon: Manayunk Restaurant Week

When: Runs through Friday, April 26th

Manayunk Restaurant Week concludes next Friday. Various restaurants and eateries in the city are offering three-course lunches and dinners at $15, $25, and $35 rates. Come stop by this amazing area of the city for some flavorful and savory dishes at a wallet-friendly price.

3. Closing Soon: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Where: Walnut Street Theatre, 825 Walnut St.
When: Runs through Sunday, April 28th

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a 2003 mystery novel by British writer Mark Haddon. Closing this week, Walnut Street Theatre has been bringing this work to life like no other. The stellar production has previously won Best Play at the Tony Awards.

4. Phillies Weekend

Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way
When: Runs through Sunday, April 28th

The Philadelphia Phillies will be taking on the Florida Marlins in a nine-day home stretch. Fans head on down to Citizens Bank Park this weekend to cheer Harper, Hoskins, and company in this NL East showdown. There’s no place to be to enjoy these next few days of sun than at the ballpark.

5. Philadelphia Science Festival

When: Runs through Saturday, May 4th

Philadelphia Science Festival is set for takeoff this week! There will be several thrilling, informative, and exciting events for every age group in the city. Be ready to be educated and entertained at various institutions and structures in the city. This Friday there Citywide Star Parties which include astronomers leading free star gazing crowds throughout various spots in the city. Come to the Rail Park with your family for a bubbly surprise. Another highlight of the weekend is the Fishtown Science Crawl this Sunday. The 21+ crowd can enjoy drink and food specials at many locations in the area.

6. Penn Relays

When: Runs through Saturday, April 27th

The 2019 Penn Relays are this weekend. The oldest track and field competition in the country will be the main attraction of a busy weekend in the city. Athletes from around the world from every level of track & field will be battling it out tat this prestigious sporting event. Bring your entire family out to see these vigorous trials of athleticism and sportsmanship.

7. Parks on Tap

Where: Azalea Garden, Between Boathouse Row and the Philadelphia Museum of Art
When: Run through

This nomadic beer garden and food truck oasis is back and better than ever. A partnership with the Philadelphia Parks Association and the Fairmount Park Conservancy, Parks on Tap traveling beer garden will span several parks through the season. The locations will feature hammocks, beer, wine, bike shares at some locations, food, family-friendly programming, and dogs are welcome. The hours are Wed & Thurs: 5 pm-10 pm,  Fri: 4 pm-11 pm, Sat: 1 pm-11 pm, and Sun: 12 pm-10 pm.

8. BODYTRAFFIC

Where: Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, 3680 Walnut St.
When: Runs through Saturday, April 27th

Los Angeles-based BODYTRAFFIC will be performing a program full of Philadelphia through this weekend. The troupe beautifully blends contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and ballet. Come see this great display of rhythm, movement, and talent.

9. La bohème at the Academy of Music

When: Runs through Sunday, May 5th

Speaking of talent, come to the Academy of Music to see this towering revival of Puccini’s masterwork. This production of La bohème is highlighted by “sets and costumes inspired and enlivened by Impressionist masterpieces from the Barnes Foundation and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.” This will be a show you don’t want to miss.

10. Philadelphia Antiques and Art Show

Where: The Navy Yard, League Island Blvd. and Kitty Hawk Ave.
When: Runs through Sunday, April 28th

The 2019 Philadelphia Antique and Arts Show is this weekend. The Navy Yard will be packed and bursting with unique and wonderful products. The show will include antiques, textiles, glass works, jewelry, Native American art, and antiquarian books and prints. There will also be many fine art gallery displays.

11. Twilight in the Gardens

When: Friday, April 26th, 7PM-10PM

Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens series Twilight in the Gardens will be the place to this Friday. Bring your food and drinks to this artistic space and take in the sights and sounds. There will be live music and hands-on artistic demonstrations.

12. Brick Fest Live

Where: The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Ave.
When: Runs through Sunday, April 28th

Friends and family will be packing into Brick Fest Live this weekend to partake in this spectacular LEGO-themed event. The Brick Fest Live LEGO Fan Experience will have many hands-on attractions including a LEGO glow gallery, a racetrack speedway, video game arena, minigolf, and more. The event wants to set the Guinness World-Record for sized LEGO mystery floor mosaic.

13. Art is Life Festival

When: Saturday, April 27th, 12PM-6PM

Arts lovers and creatives come on out to Roxborough this weekend for the Art Is Life Festival. There will be three main music stages, pop up shops, a multitude of vendors, food, drinks, and more. This neighborhood festive celebration will be full of crafters and artist all day. This Saturday, there will also be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Mural Arts piece nearby at Roxborough Pocket Park.

14. Go West Craft Fest

Where: The Woodlands, 4000 Woodland Ave.
When: Saturday, April 28th, 11AM-5PM

The beautiful landscape of The Woodlands will provide a great backdrop for this community event. If you’re looking for signature collectibles, handmade artisan pieces, ceramics, jewelry, soaps, candles, scents, and more come out to the Go West Craft Fest. There will be food merchants, children’s events, live music, and acrobatic performances.

15. Center City Jazz Festival

The 2018 Center City Jazz Festival is this Saturday. All throughout the city, there will be dazzling live music performances by talented vocalist and musicians. Be sure to stop by any of the various locations on the itinerary so your weekend can be elevated by this wonderful music genre.

16. Blackjacks vs Soul

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, April 27th, 3:30PM

The Philadelphia Soul will be playing their first game of the season this Saturday. The local arena league squad will be taking on the Atlantic City Blackjacks Brigade at the Wells Fargo Center in front of a raucous crowd. Don’t miss your opportunity to see this high-paced sport with your very eyes.

17. El Carnaval de Puebla

Where: Parade travels east on Washington Ave. to 5th St. The Festival is at Sacks Playground, 400 Washington Ave.
When: Sunday, April 28th, 12PM-6PM

This year’s El Carnaval de Puebla will be taking over the streets this Sunday! The festival usually draws thousands into the streets of Philadelphia is a celebration of the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. There will be plenty of bearded masks, Mexican food trucks,  live Latin bands, beaded capes, headdresses, and other costumes at this lively and festive cultural holiday.

18. Flavors on the Avenue

Where: East Passyunk Avenue between Dickinson St. and Morris St.
When: Sunday, April 28th, 11AM-5PM

Flavors On the Avenue will be filling the streets of South Philadelphia with the savory aroma of fine cuisine and delicious delights. This Sunday will feature five blocks of amazing street food, summer beverages, craft beers, live music, sidewalk sales at shops, and more.

19. Fairmount Avenue Arts Crawl

Where: Eastern State Penitentiary, 2027 Fairmount Ave.
When: Sunday, April 28th, 12PM-4PM

Another free to enter event this weekend is the Fairmount Avenue Arts Crawl. Thousands come out each year to peruse the dozens of exhibitors on the avenue. There will be paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and more up for grabs. The family-friendly event will also have live music entertainment, crafts, face painting,  and sidewalk chalk art.

20. Philly Vegan Restaurant Week

Philly Vegan Restaurant Week begins this Sunday. Several restaurants in the city will be promoting delicious plant-based and vegan menus. There are tremendous deals at vegan hotspots in the city as well. From signature cocktails to staple dishes, there’s something for everybody.
