Doug Pederson said Malik Jackson’s injury was significant Monday and on Tuesday we found out the severity.
Not good.
Jackson will miss the remainder of the season with a Lisfranc injury, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. He will have surgery next week.
#Eagles DT Malik Jackson is expected to miss the season with a Lisfranc injury suffered Sunday vs. the #Redskins, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Jackson will have surgery next week. Tough one for Philly despite their DL depth.

Even though the Eagles have depth at defensive tackle, this is still a big loss because of how much Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz likes to rotate them in and out. Jackson, who was signed in the offseason to a three-year, 30-million contract, had this to say about the injury to his left foot after the game.
“Just a little injury. Football. We’ll see what the doctors say.”
It was clearly more than just a little injury, so what now?
Timmy Jernigan will start in his place and he did have a sack in the opener Sunday. Jernigan was the starter for the Eagles’ Super Bowl-winning season back in 2017, but missed the start of last season due to a back injury he suffered during the offseason.
The Eagles’ only other defensive tackle on the roster is Hassan Ridgeway. Bruce Hector could be promoted from the practice squad prior to Sunday’s game in Atlanta. We’ll also probably see defensive ends Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry slide inside to rush the quarterback on third down.
