2. Center City Restaurant Week Continues

Where: Various locations

When: Runs through Friday, September 27

Center City Restaurant Week is coming to an end next Friday. Luckily for you, this amazing culinary offering and wallet-friendly week will be churning through the weekend. Diners can get access to $20 lunches and $35 dinners for the next week. Stop by your favorite Center City eatery to get in on the deals before it’s too late.

3. Terror Behind the Walls

Where: Eastern State Penitentiary  | 2027 Fairmount Ave

When: Runs through Saturday, November 9

The Eastern State Penitentiary opens its doors each Halloween season for some thrilling and terror-filled tours. The former high-profile prison will have many frightening attractions coming to each cell block starting this week. Bring your family and friends out to this horrifying institution that will be filled with thunderous sounds, shocking moments, and more.

4. Fall Fest at Spruce Street Harbor Park

Where: Spruce Street Harbor Park | 301 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd

When: Runs through Sunday, September 22

Spruce Street Harbor Park will be hosting their Fall Fest this Friday through Sunday. There will be live music and entertainment, games, and more. There will be specialty Fall beers, a farmers market, cider pressing, pumpkin carving, face painting, and tons more.

5. Philadelphia Orchestra’s Opening Season 

Where: Verizon Hall | 300 S. Broad St.

When: Season opens Wednesday, September 18

Lovers of music rejoice! The Philadelphia Orchestra returned for its new season this week! After a jaw-dropping opening night starring Audra McDonald and led by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the best is yet to come  This weekend’s program includes Umoja, a world premiere commission by American composer Valerie Coleman and Dvořák’s New World Symphony. Also, launching this season is the free ticket program for employees for the School District of Philadelphia. APPLE (Appreciation Program for PhilaSD Leaders in Education) offers School District employees free general admission tickets to concerts throughout the 201920 season. The Philadelphia Orchestra’s twelfth annual Free College Concert is also coming up on Thursday, October 3. Tickets for the event, which kicks off the 201920 season of the eZseatU student ticket program, are available to all full-time college students in the Greater Philadelphia.

6. Festival O19

Festival O19 begins this week. Presented by Opera Philadelphia, several groundbreaking opera performances will come to life in many locations throughout the city as. The Love for Three Oranges will be front and center on the Academy of Music stage. Semele will be at the Perelman Theater, Denis & Katya will take the stage at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre, and more.  If you’re a lover of the arts, check all the listings for these amazing events.

7. Fashion District Philadelphia

When: Opens Thursday, September 19

Formerly the Gallery Market East, the Philadelphia Fashion District finally opens its doors to the public this week. Well-known brands, distributors, and retailers like Nike, Ulta, ASICS, Levi’s Outlet Store, ASICS, Guess Factory Store, Pandora, and others will have the district booming.

8. City Winery Opening

Where: City Winery Philadelphia | 990 Filbert St

When: Opens Thursday, September 19

City Winery Philadelphia also offers a unique combination of wine and concertgoers experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. The brand new location includes two performance venues; a 300-seat intimate concert hall and a smaller 150-capacity loft space. The 150-seat restaurant will serve locally sourced dishes crafted by Executive Chef, Jason Heim, and house-made wines, crafted with grapes carefully sourced from acclaimed vineyards on the West Coast.  The extensive wine list features more than 200 selections.

9. Free Yoga at Race Street Pier

Where: Race Street Pier | Race St. & North Columbus Blvd

When: Runs through Sunday, November 12

Each day through Sunday, November 12th, Race Street Pier will be having free yoga. Come down to this scenic waterfront area to do this immersive and mentally escaping workout. With stunning views of the Ben Franklin Bridge in front of you, you’ll surely be invigorated by these great physical workshops.

10. Smithsonian Museum Da

Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day! is this Saturday. Countless museums all over the United States will be offering free access to their galleries and treasured collections. One quick click on the Smithsonian website and a ticket will be sent to you instantaneously that will give you entry to several of the state-of-the-art institutions in the city.

11. 13th Annual Black Women’s Arts Festival

When: Saturday, September 21-Sunday, September 22

Women of color will be celebrated this weekend at The Rotunda in University City.  This two-day event will highlight several cultural pieces, feature live music, poetry, and dance. There will be plenty of art, educational conversations, and more.

12. MANAFest

When: Saturday, September 21

The 2019 MANAFest kicks off this Saturday. There will be plenty of activities as many shops, restaurants, and boutiques will have special deals. There will also be over 30 live music performances throughout the day, food trucks, and seasonal games and activities.

13. 5th Annual South Philly SausageFest

When: Saturday, September 21, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Another seasonal celebration is the 5th Annual South Philly Sausage Fest. The yearly craft beer party continues to liven up the Newbold and West Passyunk neighborhood of the city. The sausage-themed event will have plenty of musical performances, drinks, a plethora of vendors, arts and crafts, and it will feature a play area for kids.

14. Eagles Fantennial Festival

When: Saturday, September 21 | 4 p.m.-7 p.m.

The 1st Annual Eagles Fantennial Festival is this Saturday at Cherry Street Pier. The celebration, heralding 100 years of NFL football, will feature Eagles legends, craft beers, and food. Hall of Fame busts will be on display, games, prizes, Eagles cornhole, and more fun activities will be at the event. Go Birds!

15. CiderFest

Where: Participating Houses (Cedar Grove, Laurel Hill Mansion, Lemon Hill Mansion, and more)

When: Saturday, September 21 | 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The burgeoning of Autumn brings many things. Whether you’re switching up your wardrobe or coffee flavors, fall cultivates a new routine in many areas. It also is the best season for hard ciders and brews. Six historic houses in Fairmount Park will be hosting Ciderfest this Saturday. Tickets start at $45 and get you access to plenty of cider libations, live music, food, and a fantastic time. Kurant Cider, Frecon Farms, and other brewers will be on location.

16. South Street Oktoberfest

When: Saturday, September 21 | 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Brauhaus Schmitz and other bars in the vicinity will be hosting an Oktoberfest party to remember. The South Street gathering will have several German beers on draught, traditional cultural food, live music, performances, vendors, and so much more.

17. Oktoberfest at The Bourse

Where: The Bourse | 111 S Independence Mall E

When: Saturday, September 21 | 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The Bourse Food Hall is bringing Germany to Philadelphia this fall with its first-ever Oktoberfest on Saturday. Come see the exciting transformation into the Bourse Beer Hall for just one day. There will be German-inspired food offerings, German-style beers — available in keepsake mugs to take home — and fun entertainment in the form of a keg tapping event, German-Hungarian dance groups, face painters and more!

18. Oktoberfest Live!

Where: XFINITY Live! | 1100 Pattison Ave

When: Saturday, September 21 | 2 p.m.

XFINITY Live! hosts the fall installment of its year-round craft beer celebrations this Saturday. Oktoberfest Live! will be overflowing with people, German food and fare, over 200 craft beer samples, and more. This entertainment hotspot will have live music, prizes and giveaways, and plenty of drinks.

19. Frankford Hall Oktoberfest

Another place to get savory schnitzel, sizzling bratwurst, toasty Bavarian pretzels this weekend this Frankford Hall. The Northern Liberties beer house will be flowing with German beer, music, games, and more.

20. Storage from the Studio Continues

When: Saturday, September 21 from 4 – 6 pm.

Storage from Studio, an amazing collaboration created by 14 current and former Resident Artists from The Clay Studio, continues this weekend. This Saturday there will be a free reception and panel discussion for From Storage to Studio on  The discussion will be moderated by Roberta Fallon and will be recorded as a Philly Artblog Podcast.

21. Flyers Preseason Game

(Preseason) Flyers vs. Rangers

Where: Wells Fargo Center | 3601 S. Broad St

When:  Saturday, September 21 | 7 p.m.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be taking on the New York Rangers this Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. The preseason matchup will put these rivals for a showing of what to expect this upcoming season.

22. Lions vs Eagles

Where: Lincoln Financial Field | 1 Lincoln Financial Field Way

When: Sunday, September 22 | 1 p.m.

Carson Wentz and the banged-up Eagles will look to get back to their winning ways this Sunday at the Linc. Matt Stafford and the Lions will be coming to town for an NFC showdown. The crowd will be at a fever-pitch this Sunday. Don’t miss out!

23. Manayunk Restaurant Week

Where: Various locations

When: Begins Monday, September 23

Manayunk Restaurant Week will continue to run through Sunday, September 29. Several participating restaurants and eateries have been serving up specialized three-course meals with prices ranging from $15, $25, and $35. Come out and eat at these great dining spots in one of the best areas in Philadelphia.

24. Philly Fashion Week

When: Begins Monday, September 23

Another heads-up for the coming week is our last entry on the list.  Philadelphia Fashion Week returns this Monday for its showstopping run. The 2019  festivities will be held at various locations throughout the city. There will be several runway shows, galas, a relief concert, and many other exciting activities.
