1. Closing Soon: Center City Restaurant Week

When: Run through Friday, September 27

Center City Restaurant Week ends this Friday. This amazing culinary offering is very wallet-friendly and is palate-pleasing. Diners can get access to $20 lunches and $35 dinners for the next week. Stop by your favorite Center City eatery to get in on the deals before it’s too late.

2. Closing Soon: Manayunk Restaurant Week

Where: Various locations

When: Runs through Sunday, September 29

Manayunk Restaurant Week will continue to run through the weekend and all the way up through Sunday, September 29. Several participating restaurants and eateries have been serving up specialized three-course meals with prices ranging from $15, $25, and $35. Come out and eat at these great dining spots in one of the best areas in Philadelphia.

3.Closing Soon: Spruce Street Harbor Park

Where: Spruce Street Harbor Park | 301 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd

When: Runs through Sunday, September 29

Sustained by UNIVEST, Spruce Street Harbor Park closes this Sunday. The beautiful summer gathering hotspot has hammocks, floating gardens, stellar and colorful lights, craft beer stands, and plenty of food from the area’s top restaurants. This weekend will be your last chance to stop by the luminary park.

4. Closing Soon: Parks On Tap

Where: Strawberry Mansion Bridge | Woodford Dr & Strawberry Mansion Dr

When: Runs through Sunday, September 29

This is the last week for the roaming beer garden, Parks on Tap, to provide brews, fun, and relaxation. The closeout week will be at Strawberry Mansion Bridge. There’s free yoga on Thursday and a fun run, food trucks each day, plenty of beers and cocktails, and so much more.

5. Closing Soon: O19 Festival

Opera Philadelphia’s O19 Festival ends this Sunday. The wonderful artistic and theatrical performances have been on full display at several theaters and art venues in the city. This will be your last chance to see these talented productions during the festival.

6. Phillies Weekend

Where: Citizens Bank Park |1 Citizens Bank Way

When: Runs through Sunday, September 29

This weekend will mark the final regular-season games of the Phillies’ season. The team will be taking on the Florida Marlins this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday is Fan Appreciation Day. The Phillies and Citizens Bank will have giveaways and prizes.

7. Ancient History of the Distant Future

Where: Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts |118-128 North Broad Street

When: Runs from Thursday, September 26-Sunday, February 6

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) opened a new exhibition this week. Ancient History of the Distant Future features thirteen contemporary artists looking back into pivotal works of the past. Each artist finds a new and invigorating way to see the masterpieces

8. New Asian Futurisms

Where: Asian Arts Initiative 1219 Vine St

When: Runs from Friday, September 27-Sunday, December 6

Another new exhibition on this list is New Asian Futurisms at the Asian Arts Initiative. Several talented artists and crafters were asked: “to imagine a place beyond time and space, a backdrop for the imagination of queer, differently-abled, of a multiplicity of thought.” This inclusive and spectrum embracing display is a cultural and media wonder.

9. Spit Spreads Death Primer at the Mütter Museum

Where: Mütter Museum | 19 S. 22nd St

When: Runs through Saturday, September 28

Spit Spreads Death: The Influenza Pandemic of 1918-19 in Philadelphia will be an exciting new exhibition coming to the Mutter Museum this October. To promote the informative, historically-driven, and interesting exhibit, there will be a lantern creation workshop this Friday. A  luminous parade will take place this Saturday commemorating the pandemic that swept the city decades ago.

10. Dinos After Dark

Where:  Academy of Natural Sciences | 1900 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy

When: Friday, September 27 |4 p.m.-8 p.m.

The fourth Friday of the month transitions The Academy of Natural Sciences into an after-hours fun after-hours hangout. The museum will give you the chance to meet the live animals that reside in the institution, offers gallery access, and will have plenty of activities. Stop by the indoor beer garden before you walk around this invigorating museum.

11. Philly Fashion Week

When: Runs through Saturday, September 28

The closing runway shows of Philly Fashion Week is this weekend. Runway 1 is this Friday night. The next night, Runway 2, will be front and center. National and international designers and models will be draped in exquisite garments, exhibits of luxury products and services and world-class entertainment. The Lov’n My Curves show will feature plus-size fashions only.

12. Philly Music Fest

The Philadelphia Music Fest begins this Thursday. The three-night show will provide a full musical showcase of phenomenal local singers and musicians. Speedy Ortiz, Sun Ra Arkestra, Ali Awa, and others are all set to perform. World Cafe Live, Milkboy Philadelphia, and Johnny Brenda’s will be hosting these amazing acts all weekend long. Don’t miss out on your chance to hear some amazing talent live.

13. POPS Goes to Hollywood: From Raiders to Gotham

Where: Kimmel Center | 300 S. Broad St

When: Runs through Sunday, September 29

This weekend will be a musical celebration of the silver screen. POPS Goes to Hollywood: From Raiders to Gotham features talented musicians filling the Kimmel Center with the most moving film score. The weekend will be full of stellar songs from your favorite films.

14. The Office! A Musical Parody 

Where: Merriam Theater | 250 S. Broad St

When: Runs through Sunday, September 29

Scranton, PA is coming to the Merriam Theater this weekend. The Office! A Musical Parody will be playing at the famed local theater for three nights. This zany, entertaining, and hilarious musical was called “The world’s most elaborate inside joke, created with a whole lot of love, just for fans” by Mashable.

15. In Motion, In Place: Trisha Brown Dance Company

16. Hocus Pocus

The outdoor movie screenings aren’t over for the season. Hocus Pocus will be bringing a spookily good time to Dilworth Park this Friday night. D Bank will give away free popcorn to the first 100 guests at this BYOB (bring your own blanket) event.

17. Donnell Rawlings

The Helium Comedy Club will be filled with laughs all weekend when Donnell Rawlings comes to town. The Chappelle’s Show and Guy Code actor and comedian will be performing at the popular laugh house for four consecutive nights. Stop by to get the full essence of his unique storytelling and gut-busting jokes.

18. Gabby Rivera

When: Friday, September 27 | 7:30 p.m.

Gabby Rivera is the first Latina to write for Marvel comics and creator of the favored AMERICA. SyFy network tabbed her as one of the top comic creators. Rivera will be at the Parkway Central Library talking about her work and her process.

19. Brittany Howard 

XPN Welcomes Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes

Where: The Fillmore Philadelphia 29 E. Allen St

When: Friday, September 27 | 8  p.m.

Alabama Shakes’ frontwoman Brittany Howard released her first solo project this month, Jamie. The talented singer, musician, and writer will be performing at The Fillmore Philadelphia this Friday night. The Grammy and Billboard’s Women in Music “Powerhouse” award winner is ready to showcase her talent in front of a packed Fillmore crowd.

 20. Cost of Revolution: The Life and Death of an Irish Soldier

Museum of the American Revolution

Where: Museum of the American Revolution | 101 S. 3rd St

When: Runs from Saturday, September 28 through Tuesday, March 17

The Museum of the American Revolution opens a new exhibit, Cost of Revolution: The Life and Death of an Irish Soldier, this Saturday. The display follows the story of an Irish soldier and artist Richard St. George. His life, death, and work will give you a glimpse into the American Revolution of 1776 and the Irish Revolution of 1798.

21. Bloktoberfest

When: Saturday, September 28, 12 p.m.-8 p.m.

Several local businesses, bars, and restaurants will be filling the streets for Bloktoberfest this Saturday. There will be beer, live music, food trucks, entertainment, and more. This annual Oktoberfest-themed community festival brings the masses out each year.

22. Oktoberfest at Independence Beer Garden and Piazza Pod Park 

Where: Various locations

When: Saturday, September 28, noon – 8 p.m

Come to Independence Beer Garden and Piazza Pod Park this Saturday for two blowouts Oktoberfests celebration. There will be schnitzel, sizzling bratwurst, toasty Bavarian pretzels, and steins overflowing with German beer.

23. Georgia Tech vs. Temple

When: Saturday, September 28 | 3:30 p.m.

The Temple Owls (2-1I0 will be taking on the ACC’s Georgia Tech this Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field. Fresh off a tough loss to Buffalo, the team will look to rebound in front of a home crowd. Come to the Linc to cheer on the Owls.

24. Fireworks & Fountains

When: Saturday, September 28 | 8:15 p.m.

Longwood Gardens Festival of Fountains will end its marvelous fountain show this Friday night. The beautiful and scenic garden terrain and the fountain is a sight to behold. Friday night’s show, The Piano Men, will feature all the hits from Billy Joel and Elton John.

25. Cage Fighting and New Japan Pro Wrestling at 2300 Arena

There will be tons of action at the 2300 Arena this weekend. Saturday night the venue will host The Art of Cage Fighting 13. New Japan Wrestling takes over the this Sunday. Stop by the 2300 Arena to see all of the action.

26. Martin Garrix

Martin Garrix

Where: Wells Fargo Center 3601 S Broad St

When: Saturday, September 28 7:30 p.m.

Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix will be rocking the Wells Fargo Center this Saturday night. The “Animals,” “In the Name of Love,” and “Scared to be Lonely” hitmaker will have Matt Ox and Paz as opening acts.

27. Fall for the Arts Festival in Chestnut Hill

Where: Germantown Ave from Rex Ave to Willow Grove Ave

When: Sunday, September 29 | 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts Festival is this Sunday. This day will be full of arts, crafts, vendors, live music, food, and laughter. Come to Germantown Avenue, between Willow Grove and Rex Avenues, to watch the busy area be transformed into a welcoming community village.

28. Puerto Rican Day Parade

Where: 20th St & Benjamin Franklin Pkwy

When: Sunday, September 29, 12 p.m. – 3 p.m

In celebration of the theme The Rebirth of Puerto Rico, thousands come out each year for the Annual Puerto Rican Festival Parade. Hosted by Concilio, this amazing festival and parade will have over 1,500 marchers. The elaborate cultural festivities will also be broadcast live on 6ABC. This will be a great collective event embracing this wonderful culture. There will be performances and vendors on location.

29. Overwatch League

2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals

Where: Wells Fargo Center 3601 S Broad St

When: Sunday, September 29 | 3 p.m.

The Overwatch League comes to the Wells Fargo Center this Sunday. The professional esports league for the video game Overwatch, will be having its championship battle this weekend. The final two teams will go to war in a first-to-four-map series. The winning team will receive $1,100,000 and the Overwatch League championship trophy!

30. Joseph

Oregon sisters trio Joseph will be playing at Union Transfer this Sunday night. Their latest release, Good Luck, Kid, was released earlier this month. These talented singer-songwriters will be showcasing their harmonious vocals and stirring lyrics.

Punch Line Philly Presents Nick Kroll: Middle-Aged Boy Tour

When: Sunday, September 29 7 p.m.

comedian, writer, actor, and producer Nick Kroll will be performing at The Fillmore Philadelphia this Sunday night. The Big Mouth co-creator, writer, and producer will be entertaining a massive crowd with his signature brand of comedy.
