Daily Ticket: NFL futures with Mark Drumheller

Mark Drumheller (@x_drumheller) joined Thursday’s The Daily Ticket with Sean Brace on Fox Sports The Gambler. NFL free agency gave the sports world all they can handle as Tom Brady leaves New England and moves south. However, it was the Eagles who intercepted the headlines yesterday by acquiring Darius Slay. Drumheller dives into the big trade and discusses the how important a cover corner of Slay’s caliber is to the Eagles defense. Everything from the length of the deal to the compensation is a win for Roseman, and there is reason to believe he is not finished.

Drumheller and Brace target the NFL divisional futures and how Brady’s departure impacts the AFC East and NFC South. Mark gives a few reasons why he feels both Tampa Bay and New England have great value and how Brady’s departure impacts the market for both teams. Two teams in the AFC South made major acquisitions, but Mark believes one took themselves out of contention and is not convinced the Colts found their answer at QB. They wrap up with NFL win totals. Drumheller is a buyer for year two of the Brian Flores rebuild after watching them spend significant resources on defense, and expects a significant upgrade at QB through the draft.

Today’s recap includes:

    • The impact of the Eagles prize acquisition in Jim Schwartz scheme.
    • Why I’m not sold on the Bills overthrowing Belichick in the AFC East.
    • The reasons Brady, Bruce and the Bucs are worth betting on.
    • Underrated value on win totals in the AFC East.
