The Eagles are Playoff bound. It’s the final week of the regular season. Should they play their starters against the Cowboys? Does it even matter if they do or don’t? Can they get the win?
Here are the staff’s predictions and best bets:
Mike Diaz (@PhillyMike):
Although Jerr-uh says the Cowboys are expecting to play all their guys, I can’t imagine why. It’s shown time and time again that having a bye/rest to get your top players healthy before a matchup is paramount over everything, including seeding. I’m 100% in the camp that the Eagles should rest as many veterans as they can. This season has been an overwhelming success over expectations and everything here on out is gravy. Without knowing who’s playing in this game, I’ll take the Birds plus the points.
Prediction: Dallas Sucks 23 – Eagles 17
Best Bet: Under 43

The Eagles are in the playoffs!!! In a shocking turn of events, we can relax this weekend knowing that this game against Dallas doesn’t have a big impact. I think this game ends up with both team sitting plenty of starters or them missing due to Covid. This could be an ugly low scoring game.
Prediction: Philadelphia 20 – Dallas 17

It is the season finale with a whole lot not to play for. Both the Cowboys and Eagles have players that will be out this week. I expect a sloppy game that will lead to a Cowboys victory, but a slim cowboys victory. Both teams want to get out of this game with as little damage as possible. Eagles will get swept by the Cowboys but it will benefit us in the betting market next year.
Prediction: Dallas 20 – Philadelphia 17

This is going to be a quick prediction – mainly because this game doesn’t mean a whole lot to the Eagles. But alas it is Cowboys week so let’s hope our backups come out and beat the breaks off them boys ( that’s not going to happen ).
For next week – there’s an 80% chance the Birds face off against defending Super Bowl Champs Tom Brady and the Bucs based on most likely week 18 outcomes and if the Birds want to have the best chance at advancing next week, the most important thing in this game is that we get through it unscathed. Rest the starters and see what our backups have. I’m not even worried about who Dallas starts. Minshew mania runs wild one last time through Philadelphia this Sunday.
Prediction: Philadelphia 18 – Dallas 17

Even if the backups are in there, I still think both teams will be eager to find the endzone often. If you add some of the starters in for one half, I think those OVER odds go up even more.
I do expect this to be a fun game, even if the starters don’t play more than one half or even one quarter. Both teams will be eager to end with a win in this rivalry showdown, and I still think Dallas finds a way to win on the road.
Prediction: Dallas 28 – Philadelphia 21

The Eagles have made the Playoffs. This one is simple. Get out of this game with no injuries. Rest the starters. Look at the bigger picture. See? It’s simple. But never ever forget, it will always be middle fingers up to the Cowboys.

Hard to read this one because it doesn’t matter for the Birds. Pride schmide. Stay healthy. Rest the starters. Get ready for next weekend. I don’t see this being a high-scoring game, but Dallas is apparently coming to win the game so I’m sure they’ll light up the defense a bit. No best bet this week, and I don’t think the Birds care much about this rivalry this week… nor should they.

Week 18 & we are in the playoffs! I’m not sure how Nick Sirianni will approach the starters vs rest but I feel like he’s going to play everyone & try & win this game. The Cowboys are dealing with their fair share of Covid concerns, enough to make the line drop to 5. I like the Eagles to win outright & cash for all of us! Its Dallas week, no rest for the wicked!
