The Philadelphia Eagles retained three players for the 2022 NFL season with Fletcher Cox returning as the headliner of the group.
Cox joined Boston Scott and Anthony Harris on Friday in signing new one-year contracts with the Eagles, the team announced. All three players played key roles for the Eagles in 2021, with Cox remaining one of the top players at his position in the NFL.
Cox was released on Thursday by the Eagles, but now has signed a new contract with the team. A former first-round draft pick in 2012, Cox has enjoyed a Hall of Fame-level career with the Eagles, earning four All-Pro selections, six Pro Bowl nods, and recognition as an NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
The 31-year-old ranks fifth on the franchise’s all-time sacks list with 58 sacks, which is the most in team history for a defensive tackle. Cox has also played in 156 regular-season games for the Eagles, which is the fifth-most by a defensive player in team history.
Scott has been with the Eagles since 2018 and has totaled 992 rushing yards, 499 receiving yards, and 14 total touchdowns in 45 career games. The former Louisiana Tech product remains a versatile piece in the Eagles backfield corps, which also features Miles Sanders.
Harris joined the Eagles in 2021 after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings. The 30-year-old safety started in 14 regular-season games for the Eagles last season, registering one interception and totaling 72 tackles.
The Eagles will continue preparations for the 2022 NFL season.
