Nolan Patrick Left Tuesday Night’s Game Early after This Hit

The Philadelphia Flyers’ worst fears came to pass Tuesday night in their 6-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Not only did they lose in embarrassing fashion, but Nolan Patrick went down in the second period after a hit from behind by Ducks winger Chris Wagner.

It looked like Patrick hit is head on the glass and immediately went down on the ice.

In hockey they dub this an “upper-body injury” and no one wants to throw the “C” word around, but that certainly does not look good for the young rookie.

Patrick did not return to the game and general manager Ron Hextall said they will know more about his condition today. This is not a good sign as Patrick gets significant time with the second power play unit and with Andrew MacDonald and Taylor Leier fighting injuries, it seems like the Flyers won’t be to full strength for a while.

If Patrick is out for a significant period of time, expect Lehtera to move to center and for Matt Read to re-enter the lineup. It could be a long few weeks if Patrick is going to be out of the lineup.
