Before the NFC Championship Game was even over on Sunday night, the New England Patriots opened as 5.5-point favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII. With the current odds now at -6 for the Patriots, it’s no surprise the Eagles will be underdogs for the third straight playoff game. With the way Tom Brady and the Patriots have stormed back in their playoff games dating back to last year’s Super Bowl, they’ll always be the favorite no matter who they play.
But this Eagles team may be unlike any other team they’ve played. They boast a ferocious defensive line that’ll look to wreak havoc on New England’s offensive line and Brady. It’s easier said than done.
But what’s also fun every year is to look at the game inside the game. You know you love those prop bets! How long will it take Pink to sing the national anthem? Or how long will the game last, from the opening kickoff to the last play of the game?
Hey, focusing on the refs is always fun. So what about the coin toss prop bet? Who wins it? Do they defer? Hell, we know if the Eagles win it, they’ll probably certainly defer.
It just seems like the odds have been stacked against this team since before the season even began. Nobody expected them to finish first in the NFC East, and nobody thought they’d claim the first overall seed in the NFC. They’ve just been proving people wrong every single week, even after Carson Wentz went down due to a torn ACL. The NFL as a whole completely counted the Eagles out.
It’s fun watching teams overcome the odds, especially if it’s yours. The Eagles are embracing the underdog status, and will continue to do so on their way to Minneapolis.
