What’s happening in Philly this weekend: July 27-29

Events Running Through the Weekend

1. XPoNential Music Festival

Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Friday, July 27-Sunday, July 29th

The Camden waterfront will be the place to be this weekend when the 2017 XPonNential Music Festival takes over the BB&T Pavilion this Friday night through Sunday. The concert includes David Byrne, Sylvan Esso, ClovesBermuda Triangle, and more. Come out to this wonderful display of musical artists in their element.

2. Fourth Friday on Fabric Row

Where: Various locations
When: Friday, July 27th, 5PM-9PM

Fabric Row is a scintillating independent shopping strip in the city. Several art houses, collectives, fabric shops will be having sales and deals.  Stop by Little Moon + Arrow, Cactus Collective, Fabriq, Paradigm Gallery + Studio, and others to shop and browse.

3. Twilight in the Gardens

Where: Philadelphia Magic Gardens, 1020 South St.
When: Friday, July 27th, 7PM-10PM

The beautifully structured Philadelphia Magic Gardens will be continuing its Twilight in the Gardens party series this Friday. There will be live music and plenty of arts and crafts making at this event. It’s BYOB and will feature performers and teaching artists on location. Tickets are $20 for general admission. PMG members and student tickets are discounted.

4. PhilaDANCO and the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra

Where: The Dell Music Center, 2400 Strawberry Mansion Dr.
When: Friday, July 27th, 8PM

The Dell East will provide the stage for PhilaDANCO and the Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra’s production this Friday night. The beloved Fairmount Park venue will showcase these phenomenal performers as the show off their talents. There will be multiple dances and tremendous choreography at this world-class show.

5. Pictures in the Park

Where: Dilworth Park, 1 S 15th St.
When: Friday, July 27th, 8:30PM

Dilworth Park will be screening A Wrinkle in Time this Friday night. The first 100 people that show up will receive free popcorn. The movie’s soundtrack will be playing leading up to the production. There will also be post-screening trivia and prizes.

6. Shakespeare in Clark Park

Where: Clark Park, 4300-4398 Baltimore Ave.
When: Runs through Sunday, July 29th

Twelfth Night, Presented by Shakespeare in Clark Park, will be continuing its run of free summer shows through this Sunday. The Shakespeare comedy is full of humor and hurdles as the audience sees this zany love triangle unfold. Theater and art lovers come out to this amazing show.

7. Battle of the Sexes

Where: The Oval,  2451 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Friday, July 27th, 9PM

The Oval reopened last week, bringing with it several events, parties, and family-friendly activities. Last week also kicked off their weekly Friday night film screenings. This week Battle of the Sexes starring Academy Award winner Emma Stone and Academy Award nominee Steve Carell in this retelling of one of the craziest matchups in sports history.

8. City Hall Silent Party

Where: City Hall, 1401 JFK Blvd.
When: Friday, July 27th, 8PM

Silent Philly had to reschedule this popular party last week. This Friday the weather is favorable for this massive party in the center of City Hall. Partygoers will be coming out to slide on those colorful headphones and dance the night away listening to their favorite music.

9. Ladies Weekend at Punch Line Philly

Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Thursday, July 26th-Saturday, July 28th

The weekend at laugh house Punch Line Philly Jessimae Peluso and Jasmine Brown “Toya Turnup” will be performing live on the stage. Peluso, known for her work on MTV’s Girl Code and Safe Word, has a weekly podcast Sharp Tongue & Highlarious. Jasmine Brown has created a viral sensation with her Toya Turnup and Termite and Reggie characters. If you’re looking for a great laugh, come out to this great venue.

10. Panic! at the Disco

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, July 27th, 7PM

Panic! at the Disco will be performing live this Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center. The alternative rockers will have the band ARIZONA and pop sensation Hayley Kiyoko opening for them. This year the band released their sixth studio album titled Pray for the Wicked. This show will be a full throttle and nonstop good time.

11. Billy Joel

Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way
When: Friday, July 27th, 8PM

This is the fifth consecutive summer Billy Joel has brought his show to Citizen Bank Park. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and record-setting act serenading fans during the Philadelphia stop of his farewell tour. Come hear your favorite and timeless hits from the “Piano Man” great.

12. Kittydelphia

Where: Power Plant Productions, 230 N. 2nd St.
When: Saturday, July 28th & Sunday, July 29th

Kittydelphia will have adoptable cats, cat toys, apparel, and more. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $5 at the door. Donations and raffle ticket sells go to PAWS, Philadelphia’s largest no-kill shelter and provider of low-cost vet care. This will be a great way to add a new pet to your family or to add to the inventory of the feline you already have in your life.

13. Philadelphia Dance Day

Where: Various Locations
When: Saturday, July 28th

Philadelphia Dancers Day is a citywide festival that offers some enjoyable and exciting events. This Saturday many of Philadelphia’s great instructors will be leading classes, holding workshops, and more throughout the day. Check the website for the several locations participating in the day’s festivities.

14. Pennsylvania Care Health Fest

Where: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd.
When: Saturday, July 28, 12PM- 8PM.

Estelle, T.I., SWV, Dru Hill, and plenty of others will be performing at this free annual health expo. This Saturday come out to the Pennsylvania Care Health Fest that will have plenty of free screenings, exams, information, clinical aid, and more. This massive community event seeks to enrich the community with healthcare awareness and information.

15. Dead Serious MMA

Where: SugarHouse Casino, 1001 N. Delaware Ave.
When: Saturday, July 28th, 7PM

Dead Serious MMA presents the Ring of Combat this Saturday night. This will be a great chance to see live and in-your-face MMA fighting. This high octane sporting event promises to have you on the edge of your seat. Come out for a night of thunderous brawling and entertainment.

16. Smashing Pumpkins

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, July 28th, 7PM

Chicago alternative rock heavyweights Smashing Pumpkins will be playing live at the Wells Fargo Center this Saturday night. Selling over 30 million albums, this band was one of the most successful acts to spring from the 90’s. Metric will be the opening act for the “Bullet With Buffly Wings” band.

17. Comedy Hustle Summer Showcase

Where: World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut St.
When: Saturday, July 28th, 8:30PM

The second installment of the Comedy Hustle returns to World Cafe Live this Saturday night. Several of the hottest names in comedy will be out at this hilarious showcase. Hosted by Lawrence Killebrew from Kevin Harts’s Hart Of the City, this is will be a fun way to spend your Saturday night.

18. East Passyunk Ave Car Show

Where: East Passyunk Avenue from Dickinson to Broad streets
When: Sunday, July 29th, 11AM- 4PM

The 2018 East Passyunk Car Show and Street Festival is this Sunday. In its 13th year, this event will have live music, DJs, a moon bounce for kids, and more. The main spectacle, the car show, will be a sight to behold. There will also be plenty of food and drinks at this amazing community enriching event.
