2. Closing Soon: BlueCross RiverRink Winterfest
Where: Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest | 101 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd

The end has sorrowfully come. The Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest will be closing its doors this weekend. In its 26th year, the wintry themed entertainment center has a cabin selling great food and beverages, has a lodge with arcade games, and a massive rink that’s been jumping daily. 3. Closing Soon: East Passyunk Restuarant Week

East Passyunk Restaurant Avenue Week will be serving up sizzling dishes through Friday. These deals will feature three-course prix fixe lunch and/or dinner for $15, $25 or $35. More than twenty restaurants in the area will be buzzing with great deals and a booming crowd.

4. Women’s History Month

Women’s History Month Features several events, celebrations, discussions, entertainment, and panels discussing several nuanced topics orbiting women on a daily basis. The #SisterlyLove Project is a tremendous new art exhibit featuring 20 change-making women from Philadelphia. This street art project includes some amazing work. There will be a headshot pop-up for International Women’s Day this Friday. Betsy Ross House will be hosting special events each Saturday and Sunday in March.

5. La Bayadère at the Academy of Music

La Bayadère is a beautifully fantastic ballet that shouldn’t be missed. The Academy of Music will be showcasing this outstanding piece through next week. Come see the stellar artistry and be swept away by Angel Corella’s restaging of the story. This exquisite tale of darkness and love should not be missed.

6. POPS Rock Phil Collins at the Kimmel Center

Philly POPS Rocks Phil Collins will be heralding the halls of the Kimmel Center through this Sunday. The music of Genesis and Phil Collins will be on full display. 7. Porgy and Bess

Also on at the Kimmel Center this weekend, soprano Angel Blue and renowned baritone Lester Lynch will be singing the classics. Highlights from George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess will be filling Verizon Hall. Assisted by the Morgan State University Choir, this will be a marvelous night of music.

The first Friday of the month always gets Old City Districts shops, institutions, galleries, restaurants, and art lovers bustling. 10. Clay Studio Happenings

When: Various times
The week, several engaging and dazzling exhibits and installations will be opening at The Clay Studio. Sara Parent Ramos: Praya dubia (runs through Sunday, March 29) includes a site-specific piece that will “investigate the microbiome, the wonderful and terrifyingly elusive world thriving inside and outside us.”Small Favors XV: Expanding the Field (runs through Sunday, April 26) features various small scale pieces of art. The works are incredibly varied in material, form, and aesthetics. Though small in scale the artworks created for this exhibition are huge in impact. In Joshua Hebbert: Stargazing (runs through Sunday, April 26), Herbert takes you on a journey of physical exploration of several interior and exterior spaces. Through casting the interior of the vessels, the forms of these objects reveal themselves.

11. Open Rehearsal with duende

Join duende, a new music and contemporary dance collective, for a free behind-the-scenes look at a rehearsal process. duende’s directors include choreographer Chloe Perkes, composer Alyssa Weinberg, and cellist Gabriel Cabezas. Duende is the Dr. R.J. Wallner Dance Visions Residency Resident Artist and will premiere a new work at the Performance Garage as part of the residency on August 28 and 29, 2020.

16. 23rd Annual Fur Ball

Animal lovers and party goers rejoice — Morris Animal Refuge, America’s First Animal Shelter, is pleased to announce that the 23rd Annual Fur Ball, The Great Catsby, will be held on Friday, March 6, from 6 – 11 p.m. at the Bellevue Philadelphia. 2019’s gala raised over $40,000 with proceeds going towards helping the homeless, abandoned and unwanted pets of the Greater Philadelphia region. This year’s theme will be a soiree full of dancing and debauchery as guests are transported back in time to the Jazz Age.
