The Philadelphia Eagles stayed hot on Sunday afternoon to claim a fourth-straight win and put themselves in touching distance of a playoff spot.
Nick Sirianni’s bunch scored 13 second-half points and held the Washington Football Team to only 16 total on the afternoon in a 20-16 comeback win at Fedex Field. Jake Elliott’s pair of field goals paired with Rodney McLeod’s game-sealing interception handed the Eagles their eighth victory of the season.
It wasn’t the best start for the Eagles in Maryland on Sunday afternoon, falling in a 16-7 hole after 30 minutes of football. Jaret Patterson’s 11-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter opened the scoring for Ron Rivera’s team, giving Washington early momentum at home.
Joey Slye’s 31-yard field goal attempt extended Washington’s lead to 10-0 later in the quarter, but the Eagles would hit back with their first touchdown of the day. Boston Scott’s two-yard touchdown run made it 10-7 after one quarter of play.
Slye added two more field goals in the second quarter from 39-yards and 55-yards respectively, giving Washington a nine-point cushion heading into halftime. The Eagles would wake up in the third quarter and swing the game into their favor.
Scott added his second touchdown of the game, pounding it in from one yard out on fourth-and-goal to cut the deficit to 16-14. Elliott would add a 42-yard field goal before the end of the third quarter, giving the Eagles their first lead of the day.

A 41-yarder from Elliott in the fourth quarter extended the Eagles lead to 20-16 before a late defensive scare was erased by McLeod’s diving interception. Taylor Heinecke’s final pass attempt of the day ended in disappointment for Washington, as McLeod laid out and intercepted the pass in the end zone, ending any chance for a comeback.

Jalen Hurts totaled 258 yards on the day, completing 17-of-26 pass attempts. The Eagles defense held Washington to only 312 yards of offense, with only 94 of those yards coming on the ground.
The Eagles close out their regular season schedule at Lincoln Financial Field on January 9 against the Dallas Cowboys.
