The Sixers Are Reaching Out to Former NBA Players to Serve As Mentors for the Team

One of the things the Sixers have been truly lacking is veteran leadership for their young team. Perhaps if Jahlil Okafor had someone looking over his shoulder as a mentor – maybe he wouldn’t be in the mess of a situation that he’s currently in. With Jerry Colangelo in the mix now, things may be looking up. They may actually even get it now.

David Aldridge of ESPN is reporting that the Sixers have reached out to former NBA players Shane Battier and Elton Brand to bring them in as potential mentors to the team. It’s not known at this time whether they’d be willing to do something like that, but I appreciate the thought by the Sixers here. With Joel EmbiidĀ getting some shots up now, it may be the right time to bring some mentors in.

Besides, the Sixers are 1-24. What harm could it actually do?

What are your thoughts on the direction that the Sixers are heading in under Jerry Colangelo? Let us know on social media.
