Flyers Clinch Playoff Berth, Will Play Capitals in First Round

Thanks to a pair of losses by the Red Wings and Bruins earlier in the day, the Flyers knew they needed at least two points in their last two games of the season to clinch a playoff berth.

They’d play a Sidney Crosby-less and Kris Letang-less Pittsburgh Penguin team, but it still wasn’t easy. Pittsburgh has given the Flyers trouble this season. But the Flyers were able to score three goals (one was an empty-netter) and Steve Mason made some remarkable saves to send the Flyers into the playoffs, where they’ll play the Capitals in the first round. They’ve played very well against Washington this season. What kind of shot do they have in a seven-game series? A very good one, methinks.

The playoffs begin this week. Get yo popcorn ready.

Some highlights from today’s game:

Ed Snider was in the arena from afar, courtesy of FaceTime. Pretty awesome.

In case you were wondering how Tom Sestito is doing, he’s still an assclown.

Wayne Simmonds after the game:

Everyone going nuts after Bellemare’s goal:

More coming.
