Catching up with the Birds: Training Camp Edition

A lot of Eagles content gets published each day, so here’s a recap of your Eagles news from this past week.

Let’s not take what we see in Training Camp and the preseason as law and a precursor of what to expect in the regular season.

It’s not like last year didn’t teach us a lesson.

When the Eagles outscored their opponents by 62 points over their first three preseason games and Sam Bradford went 10-for-10 with three touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in that third contest, many in Philadelphia began salivating as to what could be in store.

There’s a reason why the NFL doesn’t hand out trophies during the exhibition games.

The preseason is mostly to evaluate first and second-year talents. You won’t see any creative offensive packages or exotic blitzes, the coaches don’t want to tip their hands. Everything is vanilla, basic offensive play calling going against a base defense.

With that being said, the beginning of Training Camp is one of the most exciting times of the year for a football fan. It’s finally here! Go to the public practices and enjoy yourselves, just take everything you see and hear with a grain of salt.
