Adam Schefter reported a few weeks ago that the Eagles and free agent linebacker Stephen Tulloch were in “heavy negotiations.” Jim Schwartz talked about the possibility of re-uniting with his former player, but said ultimately the decision to sign him wasn’t his.

With the season-ending injury to backup middle linebacker Joe Walker, the Eagles may have felt it necessary to speed up the process to eventually sign the former Detroit Lion. According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles are expected to sign Tulloch.

FOX 2 Detroit Morning News reporter out of Detroit, Ryan Ermanni, first reported the signing last night.

How credible is Ermanni? Well, we don’t really know. In his Twitter bio, it says he worked in the sports department for 13 years before moving to the news side. I’m guessing he’d have to have some pretty good sources on this. But Schefter’s word is bond.

Tulloch would bring some depth to the defense, and it’ll be interesting to see just how much Schwartz uses him.
