One of the Philadelphia Eagles’ undrafted preseason heroes has been promoted to the active roster.
Cornerback and teammate of Carson Wentz at North Dakota State, C.J. Smith, was signed to the 53-man squad Thursday.

Lane Johnson’s suspension opened up a roster spot.
The Eagles had just four cornerbacks on the active roster prior to Smith being promoted and played a pair of games with just three due to Leodis McKelvin’s injury.
In other news, the Eagles also inked former Houston Texans tight end Anthony Denham to the practice squad.
