Recap: The Flyers Hang with a Tough Canadiens Team

The Philadelphia Flyers went from nearly tying the game to losing it in the span of less than 15 seconds.

Carey Price was on his game.

The Canadiens goaltender made 31 saves, including an amazing pad save on Shayne Gostisbehere with just over a minute remaining, as Montreal held on for a 3-1 win over the Flyers on Monday night.

Ghost picked up a loose puck in the high slot inside the right circle and whistled a wrister earmarked for the lower right corner of the cage, but Price was able to extend his left pad and make the stop. Alexei Emelin then lobbed a pass ahead to Alexander Radulov, who guided the puck into the empty net for a 3-1 Montreal lead with 1:03 left.

Montreal is the only team to not be beaten in regulation this season, improving to 5-0-1.

Jakub Voracek scored the lone goal for Philadelphia, which fell to 2-3-1. Steve Mason stopped 30-of-32 shots.

After a scoreless first period, both teams lit the lamp in the second. Shea Weber got it started when he rifled his right point slap shot past Mason at 5:28.

The Flyers tied it up just over six minutes later. Claude Giroux flicked a wrister through traffic from the high point, which was re-directed by Voracek into the back of the net. The tally was originally credited to Travis Konecny, which would’ve been the first of his career.

Montreal went back in front past the midway mark of the final frame just four seconds into a power play when Brendan Gallagher tipped home Radulov’s shot from the right point.
