What’s Happening in Philadelphia This Weekend: October 7-9

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. 1. Bar 57 Thursday Night Happy Hours


Where: One Liberty Observation Deck, 1650 Market Street
When: Every Thursday-October 27th, 5PM-Close

Di Bruno Bros cater this selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Visitors can bask in the breathtaking views provided by the observation deck that towers above the city and partake in this after work tradition. Di Bruno snacks and cheeses will also be available for purchase. This is the perfect way to add an exclamation on the end of your day or to spark your nighttime festivities.

2. Night Market Navy Yard


Where: Navy Yard, S Broad St. and Intrepid Ave.
When: Thursday, October 6th, 6PM-10PM

It’s the last Night Market of the 2016 season. The beloved Philadelphia food truck festival will take its final bow while offering visitors access to over one-hundred vendors. There will be live performances, grounds tours, and of course a massive amount of food and drinks. This is the first time the event will be held at the Navy Yard. Come out and satisfy your appetite.

3. King of Prussia Beerfest Royale


Where: Outside of KOP Mall, 690 W. Dekalb Pike.

When: Thursday, October 6th, 5:30-9PM, and Saturday, October 8th, 12PM -3: PM or 6PM-9:30PM

This suburban craft and international beer festival will be held outdoors. There will be massive tents to house a selection of over 100 beers for all who attend. There will be live music on two stages, a cigar lounge, and of course a diverse lineup of several beers. Ticket prices range between $15 and $75.

4. Revolutions at Penn Treaty


Where: 1009 Canal Street. Philadelphia, PA
When: Open daily

Last week, this exciting new amusing bowling venue held its grand opening. A reader placed a tip to the event and Philly Influencer is here to say that this is a bowling experience that shouldn’t be missed. Revolutions is a two-level complex that has over 26 bowling lanes. There is VIP lane access, a full service restaurant, and a bar. This new Northern Liberties entertainment palace will be a hot spot soon.

5. Parks on Tap: Lemon Hill


Where: Lemon Hill Mansion, Sedgley Dr. and Lemon Hill Dr.
When: Friday, October 7th & Saturday, October 8th, 1PM-11PM, Sunday, October 9th, 12PM-10PM

This travelling beer garden that was a summer favorite extends itself to fall weekends this Friday. This local craft beer, Mitch Prensky and Scratch Biscuits catered event, has live music and yoga provided by Maha yoga. There are games, a plethora a beverages, and several other fun activities that have made Parks on Tap a gem for months.

6. Armory Oktoberfest


Where: 23rd Street Armory, 22 s. 23rd
When: Friday, October 7th & Saturday, October 8th, 7PM-11PM, Sunday, October 9th, 12PM-10PM

This festival, held at the 23rd Street Armory, will transform the 16,000 square foot space into an unforgettable German themed and Bavarian blue and white colored extravaganza. There will be a stage area for musical acts, imported tables, traditional Oktoberfest foods, beer, raffles, authentic German dancing, entertainment, and more. Tickets start at $45.

7. PHS PHeaSt


Where: The Navy Yard, 5201 S 13th St.
When: Friday, October 7th, 7PM-10PM

The Pennsylvania Horticultural society hosts PHeaSt at the Navy Yard this Friday. This culinary recognition of Chefs and local growers benefits the City Harvest program. The celebration merges local growers with high-end regional chefs to create fresh and innovative garden-to-table dishes. There will be cocktails, gardening tips, and many more activities. 8. Wells Fargo 20th Birthday Party


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S Broad St.
When: Saturday, October 8th, 1PM-4PM

This Saturday there will be an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the venue. The Wells Fargo Center will host an open-house gathering including games, celebrity attractions, party favors, and other attractions. The arena’s flooring will be redone to heighten the look of the event. Fans will be able to stand in front of the various championship banners and take pictures. This is the Wells Fargo Center’s chance to say “thank you” to a community and fan base that has always embraced and cheered local various teams on. The Philadelphia Flyer, Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Soul, and Villanova Men’s Basketball team will all be represented.

9. Pearl Street Block Party


Where: 1200 Pearl St in Chinatown North
When: Saturday, October 8th, 1PM-5PM

Presented by the Asian Arts Initiative, this neighborhood festival celebrates rich culture, artistic ingenuity, and diversity. The event, which is centered on the creation of a Pearl Street mural, will have live performers, DJs, banner making, fabric works, sound installations, and button making. There will be food provided by Lil’ Pop Shop, Foo Truck, and Brick and Mortar. The event is free but the suggested donation is $10.

10. Philadelphia Open Studio Tours


Where: Studios West of Broad St.
When:  Saturday, October 8th-9th, various times

Every October, Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST) brings this outreach experience to twenty different neighborhoods in Philadelphia. The tours’ main focus are to shine a light on hundreds of artists and their work. This community event, which is all-ages, allows people to get a behind-the-scenes look at artist in their workspace. The event includes exhibitions, demonstrations, receptions, discussions, and allows spectators to roam all participating studios in the area free of charge.

11. Oktoberfest Live!


Where: XFINITY Live! , 1100 Pattison Ave.
When:  Saturday, October 8th, 3PM-7PM

Draft Magazine voted this event in their top 10 when ranking Oktoberfest parties throughout the country. The 5th Annual Oktoberfest Live! is a craft beer and cultural celebration for the hordes and droves of attendees in the area. The event has room for over 15,000 people. There will be indoor and outdoor beer gardens, German Oktoberfest beer tents, food trucks, and other activities. Tickets are range between $45 and $60.

12. East Passyunk Antique/Vintage Market PLUS Second Saturday


Where: 1628 E Passyunk Ave.
When:  Saturday, October 8th, 8AM-4PM (Market), 11AM-10PM (2nd Saturday)

This Saturday, Passyunk Ave will be bursting will excitement and fun. There will be a vintage market, 2nd Saturday festivities, a sidewalk sale, and live music. Over 50 vendors will be in attendance offering unique antiques, collectibles, artwork and more. Second Saturday will host a picture and art frame sell, a Jig Bee Farm flower giveaways, and more. There will also be live blues music played by The Blue Pharaohs and Barry & Friends.

13. Awbury Arboretum Harvest Fest


Where: Awbury Arboretum, 1 Awbury Rd.
When: Saturday, October 8th, 11AM-3PM

This free festival Germantown Ave based fall festival offers live musical performances, hay rides, and many more family oriented-oriented activities. The seasonal festival will have tons of food and beverage options for the whole community. Don’t miss this great opportunity to embrace this celebration of the fall and enjoy a crisp autumn day with your friends and family.

14. 9th Annual RiverCity Festival


Where: Penn Treaty Park, 1301 N Beach Street
When:  Saturday, October 8th, 12PM-10PM

This Fishtown annual free event has many family-friendly activities, a live musical lineup curated by WXPN radio, a 5K run, and much more. The beer garden includes brews and beverages from Evil Genius Brewery, Philadelphia Brewing Company, Do Good Brewing, Kurant, and others. The event highlights many vendors and artists in the area. There will balloon art, face painting, and Philadelphia Zoo-on-wheels, at this gathering that assembles thousands.

15. Old City Fest


Where: 3rd and Arch St.
When: Sunday, October 9th, 11AM-6PM

This free street festival is presented by Old City District. The event drew more than 20,000 people last year. There will be food and drinks, live musical entertainment, a fashion show, a family fun zone, a Veterans Multi-Service Center clothing drive, and an independent artists row. The outdoor blowout celebration showcases the best in design, music, art, restaurants, theater, culture, history, and more that the community has to offer.

16. Philadelphia Kidney Walk


Where: Philadelphia Art Museum, 2600 Ben Franklin Pkwy.
When: Sunday, October 9th, 8:30AM

The National Kidney Foundation seeks to raise over $400,000 with this community walk this Sunday. Kidney Walk is the country’s largest walk and rally to fight kidney disease. There will be over 100,000 walkers across the nation gathering to join forces and raise funds and cognizance for this top health problem in America. There are over 26 million people suffering from kidney disease in this country. This important event will seek to unite the masses for a good cause.

17. Birds vs. Lions Game Party


Where: XFINITY Live! , 1100 Pattison Ave.
When: Sunday, October 9th, 1PM kickoff

XFINITY Live! offers home amenities for this Philadelphia Eagles away game event this Sunday. Travel to any of the five venues in XFNITY Live! , where you’ll have access to over 100 TVs and will be able to catch all of the football action. The first 500 guest who arrive will receive a free Miller Lite beverage. There will be $3 Miller Lite drafts and a $5 game day menu. Come watch the games with the best fans in the country and have a good time.

18. Philly Pride OutFest 2016


Where: Gayborhood, 1200 Locust St.
When:  Sunday, October 9th, 10AM-5PM

This is the largest LGBT event if Philadelphia each year. Celebrating National Coming Out Day (NCOD), this event has over one hundred partners offering many activities that promote advancement of LGBT rights, visibility, and awareness. This event will have the feel of a block party. All local bars, restaurants, and businesses in the area will showcase themselves outside of their establishments. There will be live entertainment, carnival games, a flea market, food, beverages, and more at this free event.

19. Gorgas Park Harvest Festival


Where: Gorgas Park, 6300 Ridge Ave.
When:  Sunday, October 9th, 11AM-4PM

This fall October festival at Gorgas Park this Sunday will brim the area with fun and communal outreach. It will have great food, games, crafts, children’s rides, a moon bounce, and a petting zoo. There will be funnel cake, scarecrow making contest, pumpkin decorating, musical guests and DJs. Come out with your friends and family at this free event and start your week off in a festive way.

20. Pumpkin Smash! 2016


Where: City Tap House, 3925 Walnut St.
When: Sunday, October 9th, 1PM

City Tap House Annual Pumpkin Smash is this Sunday. There will be over 25 pumpkin flavored beers on display and available for tasting. The event will also have a diverse and flavorful brunch menu. The event touts the tapping of a 200 lb pumpkin keg. This beer love fest is animal friendly. City Tap House will be teaming up with Morris Animal Refuge for a contest. Dress your dog up in the best costume and win a $50 gift card to City Tap House. Guest will have to smash a pumpkin to make a donation to the refuge. This event will also be in tandem with the Philadelphia Eagles vs Detroit Lions kickoff party at the same venue.  Tickets are $10.
