What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: November 3-5

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Events running Through the Weekend

1. Philadelphia Assembled

Where: Perelman Building, 2525 Pennsylvania Ave.
When: Friday, November 3rd, 5PM

The Philadelphia Museum of arts continues its cultural and civic series Philadelphia Assembled. Through December 10th, come out to this top shelf fusion of art, music, discussion, and entertainment. This Friday the Odean Pope quartet will be performing. This event is always free with admission to the museum.

2. Moundbuilders: Ancient Architects of North America

Where: Penn Museum, 3260 South St.
When: Runs through Sunday, December 3rd

Penn Museum’s exhibit Moundbuilders: Ancient Architects of North America is open for business. Whether it’s the massive pyramids in Egypt, Stonehenge, or Machu Piccu, Moundbuilders takes you deep into the pillars of the greatest structures in the world. The museum will give you a background glimpse into these worldwide treasures with artifacts, photos, and more.

3. The Phantom of the Opera

Where: Academy of Music, 240 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, November 12th

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera will be taking over the Academy of Music until Sunday, November 12th. The famed opera includes incredible selections such “Music of the Night,” “All I Ask Of You,” and “Think of Me.” Come to this amazing venue to take in this timeless classic.

4. Mermaids

Where: Adventure Aquarium, 1 Riverside Dr. Camden, NJ
When: Runs though Sunday, November 12th

Across the bridge on the Camden Waterfront lies Adventure Aquarium. The aquatic institution has something unique and exciting for your entire family. Mermaids is an imaginative exhibit that includes incredible swimmers putting on a mystical show. There are meet-and-greets, crafts, a pirate appearance, and more.

5. CraftNOW Philadelphia

Where: Various locations
When: Runs through Friday, December 8th

CraftNOW Philadelphia provides the populace with a rare opportunity to view crafters outside of their specialized studios. Several hand skilled artisans will be on full display at several institutions in the city. There will be wood, clay, stone, metal, fiber, and more works at various galleries, shops, museums, and locations.

6. UniverSoul Circus

Where: 52nd and Parkside Ave.
When: Runs through Sunday, November 26th

The UniverSoul Circus will be pitching its tents outside of The Mann Center until the end of the month. The traveling and energetic circus will have acrobatics, live animals, clowns, and all the animations you can expect from this memorable show. This will be one of the must-see events over the next month.

7. White Nights

Where: Asian Arts Initiative, 1219 Vine St.
When: Friday, November 3rd, 8PM

The Asian Arts Initiative will be hosting White Nights this Friday evening. Performance artist Hua Hua Zhang and Company will be putting on an invigorating show that utilizing installations, lighting, improvisation, sound, movement, and more. If you like collaborative artistic showcases, this is for you.

8. Hollywood Babble On

Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, November 3rd, 8PM & 10:30PM

Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman give their comedic insider takes on the workings of Hollywood and more in this hilarious two-man act. This Friday night the duo will be using their humor and candor to put on a heck of a show. This Saturday night Kevin Smith will also be doing multiple solo shows.

9. 76ers Vs. Pacers

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, November 3rd, 7PM

It didn’t start pretty but the Philadelphia 76ers have their a groove as of late. The young core of Embiid, Simmons, Saric, Covington, and company have been hitting their winning stride in the last few matchups. This Friday night the team will be taking on the Indiana Pacers. Come to the Wells Fargo Center and cheer on the emerging team.

10. The Science of Cooking at The Franklin Institute

Where: The Franklin Institute, 222 N. 20th St.
When: Saturday, November 4th-Saturday, November 18th

The Franklin Institute will be hosting a series of cooking themed events in the next two weeks. The show merges biology, physics, chemistry, and the workings behind the science of cooking. This will be a family oriented demonstration. Bring your kids out for some educational and a tastefully good time.

11. Great Harvest Beer Festival

Where: Hawthornes, 738 S. 11th St.
When: Saturday, November 4th, 12PM

The 2nd Annual Great Harvest Beer Festival will be unfolding and brimming from the walls of the Hawthornes Cafe. This free to enter event will have a kids zone, live bands, is pet friendly, a selection of drafts, food, prizes, and more. Brews will be in abundance at this festival.

12. Rittenhouse Square Farmers Market

Where: Rittenhouse Square, 10AM-2PM
When: Saturday, November 4th

Every Saturday year round from 10AM-2PM Rittenhouse Square gets transformed into a beautiful, open air, and fresh framers market. There will be amazing produce, flowers, and many more locally grown products up for sale. This is a great community gathering that brings the masses out.

13. LOVE Your Park Fall Festival Service Day

Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, November 4th, starting a 8PM

Love Your Park is a fantastic endeavor created by the city of Philadelphia. Every park in the city will be hosting diverse events geared towards beautification and cleaning certain green areas. Some locations will have breakfast and brunch for volunteers and activities afterwards.

14. First Person Arts Festival

Where: Various locations
When: Runs through Saturday, November 18th

The First Person Arts Festival begins this weekend and runs through Saturday, November 18th. There will be personal story slams, spoken word performances, comedic showcases, a memoir writing class, and more at this artistic collective. Margaret Cho will be holding a show at the Fillmore Philadelphia this Sunday as a part of the calendar of events.

15. Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival

Where: Various locations
When: Runs through Sunday, November 19th

The 37th Annual Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival kicks off this Saturday. There cultural film celebration will be holding special screenings and panel discussions. There will be 35 films in total from over 20 countries around the world. Come see shorts, documentaries, long features, and others.

16. Nick Offerman

Where: Merriam Theater, 250 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, November 4th, 7PM

Nick Offerman will be performing at the Merriam Theater this Saturday night. The actor is known for several roles, namely his character Ron Swanson on Parks and Recreation. The Full Bush Tour will be full of sawdust stories and pure comedy that you don’t want to miss.

17. Flyers vs. Avalanche

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, November 4th, 7PM

The hockey season recently kicked off in the last month. The Philadelphia Flyers have a 6-5-1 record. This Saturday night under the Wells Fargo Center lights home team will be taking on the Colorado Avalanche. Come to the amazing arena to see your favorite hockey team get another win.

18. Tori Amos

Where: Tower Theatre, S 60th St. and Ludlow St.
When: Saturday, November 4th, 8PM

Multiple Grammy nominee Tori Amos will be bringing her 2017 tour to the Tower Theatre this Saturday night. The singer-songwriter and pianist put out her fifteenth solo album in July of this year titled Native Invader. The album has since spawned three singles that will be highlighted along with many others this Saturday night.

19. Museum Sundays

Where: Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy
When: Sunday, November 5th, 10AM-5PM

The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Barnes Foundation will be offering up the most wallet friendly event this Sunday. The Philadelphia Museum of Art will be pay-what-you-wish and The Barnes Foundation will have free admission for the entire day. Stop by these world-renowned institutions to see the most prestigious artists’ works on full display.

20. Clover Market

Where: 7 N. Bryn Mawr Ave.
When: Sunday, November 5th, 10AM-4PM

The Clover Market is an engaging mercantile treasure. Bryn Mawr will be hosting this travelling peddlers village this Sunday. Several vendors will be selling special handmade crafts, collectibles, antiques, jewelry, crafts, home pieces, and more. Come support the various crafters in the area and find one-of-a-kind pieces.

21. Philadelphia Veterans Parade and Festival

Where: City Hall, S. 15th St.
When: Sunday, November 5th, 12PM-4PM

The 3rd Annual Philadelphia Veterans Parade and Festival is this Sunday. Television coverage will be on 6ABC starting at 12:30PM. Live music will be provided by Modzilla, TC Riot Band and Savior Soul, and Midnight to Minutes. There will be food,  kids games, balloon artist, face painting, and more. The parade will include over 3,000 participants and 34 Veteran Service Organizations.

22. Eagles vs. Broncos

Where: Lincoln Financial Field, 1 Lincoln Financial Field Way
When: Sunday, November 5th, 1PM

Sunday would complete without the Eagles. This Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field the Philadelphia Eagles will be taking on the Denver Broncos. Come see Carson Wentz, Alshon Jeffrey, Fletcher Cox, and company take on this defensive team at the top of the afternoon. The stadium will be rocking as the Birds go for an 8-1 record.
