1. Black History Month

When: Runs through the end of the month

February marks a great celebration in history and culture. Black History Month will be commemorated in several venues and institutions in the city all month. There will be free concerts, discussions, readings, festivals, gatherings, celebrations at several museums and institutions in the city, and more.

2. Philadelphia Auto Show Opening Weekend

Where: Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch St.
When: Runs through Sunday, February 10th

The 2019 Philadelphia Auto Show revs up and kicks into gear this weekend. The action begins this Friday with the Black Tie Tailgate. The opening night soiree will have exclusive first looks at this year’s vehicles, cocktails, and more. The car show becomes open to the general public on Saturday. There will be countless cars on display, the infamous DUB Show, a Hollywood rides display, and much more at this revved-up annual event.

3. It’s Not You, It’s Me

It's Not You, It's Me. -The Second City

Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St.
When: Run through Saturday, February 2nd

The Second City brings It’s Not You, It’s Me. -The Second City to the Kimmel Center this week. The infamous comedy company will be bringing all the laughter and jokes with this heartbreak themed show. These hilarious performers will keep you on the edge of your seat.

4. Lunar New Year Celebrations

When: Various times

The Lunar New Year is upon us and the Year of the Pig is commencing. Several cultural events will be seeping the city this weekend. Stop by the Independence Seaport Museum or Reading Terminal Market to partake in some fantastic festivities. The galleries of Chinese art will also be reopened at the Philadelphia Museum of Art this Sunday.

5. POPS ROCKS: The ’80s with The Philly POPS

Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad Street
When: Runs through Sunday, February 3rd

The Philly POPS enthralling showcase of musicianship continues this weekend. This Saturday night come to Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center will feature POPS ROCKS: The ’80s with The Philly POPS. Singer, TV star, and comedian Nicole Parker and Broadway’s Aaron Finley will be the featured vocalists at this nostalgia concert.

6. Rethinking the Modern Monument

Where: Rodin Museum, 2151 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Opens Friday, February 1st

Come see Auguste Rodin’s best sculptures at the Rodin Museum starting this weekend. This famed artist’s structures have been revered for centuries. These sculptures signify a great departure from convention. There will also be other artists on display with similar of a traditional break.

7. Old City First Fridays

When: Friday, February 1st

The first Friday of the month always gets Old City Districts shops, institutions, galleries, restaurants, and art lovers bustling. Several art studios in the area such as the Painted Bride Art Center, The Clay Studio, and 3rd Street Gallery have several beautiful exhibits and workshops open for all.

8. Havana Nights

Havana Nights: A Celebration of Cuban Music & Food

Where: World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut St.
When: Friday, February 1st, 8PM

This is one of the more musically entertaining events on the list. To top it off, the entire rhythmic gathering is free. World Cafe Live will be hosting their recurring series Havana Nights this Friday. There will be live salsa music played by Conjunto Philadelphia, dancing, food, and beverages.

9. Frankford Ave First Fridays

Where: Various locations
When: Friday, February 1st

Fishtown will be surging with art, culture, food, bar festivities and more. February’s First Friday! will feature special Happy Hours, food tasting events, tango classes, art sales, poetry readings, art shows, and several other activities.

10. Chestnut Hill On Ice

Where: Chestnut Hill
When: Friday, February 1 – Saturday, February 2nd

Chestnut Hill is transformed into a winter wonderland during this two-day festival this weekend. There will be live ice sculptures, an ice skating rink, bonfires, an ice bar, food, drinks, games, activities, and more.

11. Bruce Bruce

Bruce Bruce

Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, February 1st and Saturday, February 2nd

Known funnyman and actor Bruce Bruce will be bringing all the laughs to the Punch Line Philly stage for several nights. The hilarious performer has toured across the world with his tremendous standup. Come hear the Def Comedy Jam alum this Friday and Saturday.

12. Amy Schumer

Punch Line Presents Amy Schumer

Where: Tower Theater, S. 69th and Ludlow streets, Upper Darby
When: Friday, February 1, 8 p.m.

Come see Amy Schumer at the Tower Theater this weekend for some amazing set. The I Feel Pretty and Trainwreck act will be front-and-center at the famed entertainment venue. Fans of the New York actress, comedian, and producer will be packing the theater for this one-night-only event.

13. Whitney Cummings

When: Through Saturday, February 2nd

Creator of the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, Whitney Cummings is coming to the Helium Comedy Club this weekend. The producer, writer, director, actress, and comedian penned her first book “I’m Fine and Other Lies” in 2017. Don’t miss this great figure in entertainment.

14. Flea Markets

Feminist Flea Market & Craft Fair: Benefit for Women Against Abuse

Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, February 2nd

For those looking for amazing collectibles and one-of-a-kind pieces for the house, your family, or workspace, these flea markets are for you. The Feminist Flea Markets and Craft Fair and the Indoor Phila Flea both take place this Saturday. There will be tons of jewelry, home furnishings, candles, signature items, and more.

15. Getaway and Yoga at the Greenhouse

Where: Fairmount Park Horticulture Center, 100 N. Horticultural Dr
When: Saturday, February 2nd – Sunday, February 10th

The Fairmount Park Horticulture Center offers you a blissful and beautiful escape from the wintry mix outdoors. The Getaway at Greenhouse will feature live music, a beer garden, games, a giant sandbox, food trucks and more. There will also be free yoga on Sunday as well.

16. QT Noir Arts Festival

When: Saturday, February 2nd, 12PM-6PM

This Saturday is the QT Noir Arts Festival. This two-day event celebrates the outstanding work of Black LGBTQ+ artists in Philly. There will be visual art displays, dance performances, music, and all things crafts.

17. African American Children’s Book Fair

Where: Community College of Philadelphia, 1700 Spring Garden Street
When: Saturday, February 2nd, 1PM-4PM

One of the highlights of black history month, the 2019 African American Children’s Book Fair is taking over 17th and Spring Garden this Saturday. This free admission event will feature authors, readings, prizes and giveaways, and tons of books for sale.

18. Please Touch Museum Weekend

When: Saturday, February 2nd and Sunday, February 3rd

The Please Touch Museum will be celebrating the rich culture of the Muslim community with its fantastic new exhibition America to Zanzibar and Muslim Cultures Near and Far. This Sunday bring your kids out for Play Without Boundaries. Kids with developmental disabilities and those on the autism spectrum can enjoy everything the museum has to offer in a sensory-friendly way. Registration for Sunday is filling up.

19. Oilers vs. Flyers

When: Saturday, February 2nd, 1PM

The Philadelphia Flyers will be hosting the Edmonton Oilers this Saturday afternoon. The Flyers are currently 7th in Metropolitan Division. While the similar, second-to-last Oilers trying to crawl their way out of the pit of the Pacific Division in the West. Come to the Wells Fargo Center to see these two teams face off.

20. G. Love & Special Sauce

G. LOVE & SPECIAL SAUCE

Where: Fillmore Philadelphia, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Saturday, February 2nd, 8PM

Philadelphia native G. Love will be performing at the Fishtown gem the Philadelphia Fillmore this Saturday night. G. Love & Special Sauce will also be hosting a pre-show pop up before the festivities. This will be a great night for fans of the musical wonder.

21.Christian Finnegan

Good Good presents Christian Finnegan (Comedy Central, Conan)

Where: Good Good Comedy Theatre, 215 N. 11th St.
When: Saturday, February 2nd, 8PM & 10PM

This stand-up act has performed on Conan, The Late Late Show, and had his own Comedy Central and Netflix special. He’s been seen on Chappelle’s Show, Are We There Yet?, The Good, Best Week Ever, and more. Don’t miss out on a chance to see his signature delivery and punchlines in front of a Good Good Comedy Theatre crowd this Saturday night.

22. Museum Sundays

Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy and Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Sunday, February 2nd, starts at 10AM

The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Barnes Foundation will be having their monthly First Sunday events. This Sunday at the Philadelphia Museum of at is Family Festival: Lunar New Year. You can create a lunar calendar, watch a dance from the from the Nai-Ni Chen dance company, and more. The Barnes Foundation’s PECO Free First Sunday Family Day: Breaking Boundaries will have a number of activities. There will be an art-making session for creating peace flags and buttons, storytime, hip hop dance performances, and more. The Philadelphia is pay-what-you-wish and the Barnes Foundation has free admission on the first Sundays of the month.

23. Georgetown vs. Villanova

Villanova vs. Georgetown

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Sunday, February 3rd, 12PM

The fourteenth ranked team in the nation will be taking on the Georgetown Hoya (13-7) this Sunday in a Big East showdown. The Villanova Wildcats (16-4) are on a nine-game winning streak and are looking to push it to ten. Come to the Wells Fargo Center before the madness of March begins.

23. Sarah Brightman

Sarah Brightman

Where: The Met Philadelphia, 858 N Broad St.
When: Sunday, February 3rd, 8PM

Classical soprano, singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and musician Sarah Brightman will be performing at The Met Philadelphia this weekend. She is known for having a vocal range of over three octaves. Brightman is one of the key figures to crossover from classical to modern music. She’ll bring her powerhouse vocals and sound to her adoring fans Sunday night.
