TKO’s College Football and NFL picks for the weekend of 10/23/21

Blog Record: 163-128

I’m going to the motherland, everyone. At least, the motherland for sports bettors like ourselves. I’m following the Birds out to Vegas! With that, I did my research early in the week, but am writing this post from the lovely Denver airport where I have a layover. Therefore, this post will be short and to the point so that I can get it out before boarding!

NCAAF: No. 16 Wake Forest vs. Army – 12:00 P.M. ET, CBS Sports Network

Wake Forest has found themselves in some shootouts as of late, winning 37-34 and 40-37 in their last two contests. Army comes back home, where their offense has been better this season (three of four home games over 35 points, both road games under 17). I buy in that the Black Knights can get that triple option offense going with home cooking.

Take over 52.5.

NCAAF: Clemson vs. No. 23 Pittsburgh – 3:30 P.M. ET, ESPN

I made the mistake a few weeks ago assuming Clemson would figure it out against Syracuse. Clemson might have all that talent, but they just don’t have it, and I’m not expecting that to magically change against a Panthers team that is 5-1 rolling off a win against VA Tech in Blacksburg. Also, strangely enough, Pittsburgh has the seventh-best odds to win the title at the moment according to DraftKings… give this team some respect.

Take Pittsburgh -3.

NCAAF: LSU vs. No. 12 Ole Miss – 3:30 P.M. ET, CBS

Coach O is on his way out, and I think the instant reaction game by the players was last weekend (I’m thinking they knew before kickoff) when LSU upset Florida. This game could be a letdown spot, especially when the next game on the schedule for the Tigers is Alabama. This Ole Miss offense is legit and can put up points fast, I don’t think LSU will keep up.

Take Ole Miss -9.

NFL: Falcons vs. Dolphins – 1:00 P.M. ET, FOX

The Dolphins just lost outright to Jacksonville who haven’t won since week one of 2020. They are coming back from London without having a bye week to rest up. Atlanta is coming off a win and has played other teams closer than Miami this season. I know Atlanta isn’t great, but the Dolphins are first overall pick contenders.

Take Falcons -2.5.

NFL: Eagles vs Raiders – 4:05 P.M. ET, FOX

Take it for what you will, I like the Birds this week to pull one out as the offense has a good game. Admittedly, bias might exist as I’m going to the game, so follow or fade at your own risk.

Take Eagles +3.

NFL: Bears vs. Bucs – 4:25 P.M. ET, CBS

I’ve made it no secret I’m not a Justin Fields guy, and that’s not going to change in a game against one of the top defenses in the league. That being said, this Bears defense is also legit and has shown us on multiple occasions they can keep their team in the game. The spread scares me, but love that under.

Take under 47.
