Eagles-Washington Week 17 predictions and best bets

This season, the Philly Influencer staff and contributors will be giving you their predictions and best bets!

After a sluggish first half against the Giants, the Eagles dominated the second half and kept their playoff hopes alive. Can the Eagles keep it going and take down a wounded Washington team?

Here are the staff’s predictions and best bets:

Bruce Vail (@BruceJVail):

Once again, we are at a tale of two teams going in opposite directions. The Eagles victory over the football team two games ago was the beginning of the end for Washington. The Eagles can actually clinch a playoff birth with a victory Sunday and some help elsewhere, which is astonishing considering we were all at rock bottom after the Vegas game.

The only concerning thing for me in regards to the Eagles not only in this game, but in general- are the slow starts. That shouldn’t matter all too much this weekend as the Football team is a complete mess. I called the Giants a sinking ship last week and if they are the Titanic, the Washington Football team is the Hindenburg. Eagles roll this week and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Minshew mania take some snaps to end this game.

Prediction: Philadelphia 34 – Washington 10

Best Bet: Boston Scott anytime TD

Larry Henry Jr. (@lhenry019):

The Philadelphia Eagles have totaled 24 or more points in five of the last six games, making this my lock on Sunday afternoon. Jalen Hurts is back, the running game continues to produce, and the defense has shined over recent weeks. I expect the Eagles to score early and often and force a lot of issues for Taylor Heinicke and the Washington offense.

The Eagles are favored by 3.5, but again I back the Birds to get a huge divisional win, even if its on the road. It’s a must-win for the Eagles especially with New Orleans right on their tail, but overall the better team will win the game. I expect an much more comfortable outing for the Eagles than when they played Washington two weeks ago. If the defense can pressure Heinicke often, it might be a 30 pt victory for the visitors. Birds all the way!!

Prediction: Philadelphia 31 – Washington 14

Best Bet: Eagles total pts O 24.5 (-110)

The Pi Brew (@thepibrew):

Don’t look now, but the Birds are cooking! Yes they had a slow start against the Giants – but good teams find ways to win during this time of the year. The WFT is falling apart. Players are literally coming to blows with each other on the sidelines. The Eagles head to Washington on Sunday for another huge matchup. The Eagles need to keep winning with a spot in the Playoffs looming. I still expect this one to be closer than it should be, but barring any meltdown on the field and with play calling, the Eagles should escape DC with another W.

Prediction: Philadelphia 23 – Washington 16

Nick Piccone (@_piccone)

It’s really tough to sweep two divisional games in an NFL season, but the Eagles have as good a chance as any to do it this weekend against Washington. The Birds have gotten off to putrid starts of late, but their weak schedule has allowed them to take advantage of weak teams and overcome those putrid starts to put them right in the thick of the playoff race. I don’t think you can discount Nick Sirianni just because of the weak teams, because I do believe in miracles.

Birds gotta win. We need playoff football. No other way.

Prediction: Philadelphia 31 – Washington 21

Best Bet: Jalen Hurts OVER 44.5 rushing yards

Sean Brace (@Sean_Brace):

Three of three & this is the time to shine! The Eagles should have no problem with beating WFT. They covered the number vs them 2 weeks ago and I expect the same on Sunday (Which is exactly what I said, 3 straight covers vs DC & NYG). While I’m here, I have to give it up to Nick Sirianni & staff on the way this team has responded. Year one & the team has totally bought in. More victories will only help the future out, so hopefully we see a few more of those this season. Go Birds!

Prediction: Philadelphia 31 – Washington 20
