The shot-caller for the Philadelphia Eagles will remain in place for at least three more years, as general manager Howie Roseman has reportedly signed a three-year extension with the team.
First reported by PhillyVoice’s Jimmy Kempski, Roseman signed an extension while preparing to enter the 2022 NFL season on the final year of his deal.
“Howie Roseman has agreed to a three-year extension to remain the Philadelphia Eagles’ general manager, according to a source. Roseman was previously in the final year of a contract that he signed during the summer of 2018.
…
“Looking forward, Roseman and the Eagles have a potentially franchise-shaping offseason ahead with three first-round picks in the 2022 draft, and 10 picks overall. They also have some ability to spend in free agency, which was not the case a year ago, and they have already bolstered their pass rush rotation with the addition of Haason Reddick.
Roseman will be under contract through the 2025 season.”
Roseman is the only Eagles general manager to preside over a Super Bowl Championship for the team during a season in which I think by now everyone can agree was a lighting-in-a-bottle season. However, it was Roseman, along with Lurie, that decided to move on from Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz at the same time, and probably made the right move in doing so. With rumors flying – and we’ll never truly know the real story as is with many business situations in sports – that Pederson wanted to go back to Wentz after he was benched in favor of Jalen Hurts in 2020, or that Pederson wanted to go with Hurts and the front office wanted to stick with Wentz, but then he didn’t want to return to the team regardless, every story that came out of that situation was what we call in the wrestling business an “overbooked mess.”
