The Philadelphia Eagles had several needs coming into Thursday’s first round of the 2022 NFL Draft and Howie Roseman filled two of those needs in a big way.
Fourth-year wide receiver A.J. Brown was acquired in a trade with the Tennessee Titans while Roseman also added defensive tackle Jordan Davis in the first round. In exchange for Brown, the Eagles traded away their No. 18 and No. 101 overall picks to Tennessee.

Brown was in the final year of his contract, but reportedly has signed a new four-year deal worth $100 million, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The 24-year-old wideout excelled in his three seasons with the Titans, totaling 2,995 receiving yards and 25 total touchdowns. Brown will now join second-year wide receiver DeVonta Smith in the Eagles offense, giving quarterback Jalen Hurts two of the top young talents in the NFL.
Davis, the University of Georgia defensive lineman, was selected after the Eagles moved up two spots to No. 13 overall. A North Carolina native, Davis played four years in Athens, winning the 2021 National Championship with the Bulldogs. He was ranked as the best run-stopper coming into the NFL Draft.
The 6-feet-6, 340 lb. defensive tackle totaled 32 tackles and two sacks in 2021. During his high-school career at Mallard Creek High School in North Carolina, Davis was a three-star prospect, choosing Georgia over other offers from Clemson, Florida, North Carolina and the University of Miami.
The Eagles continue their draft selections on Friday with two total picks between the second and third rounds.
