Jalen Hurts has answered his critics so far through the opening three weeks of the 2022 NFL season and the surging Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was rewarded for his efforts by the league on Thursday.
Hurts was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, leading the Eagles to a 3-0 start this season. The third-year quarterback leads the NFL with 9.3 yards per passing attempt, he is the only quarterback in the Super Bowl era to average 300 pass yards (305.3) and 50 rush yards (55.7) over the course of a team’s first three games, and he has the highest passer rating of any quarterback in the NFC (106.5).
“It’s a part of me,” Hurts said in regards to the award. “This is my comfort zone, my safe haven, being here, being around the building and doing football,” Hurts said. “This is what I do. This is what I’ve always done.”
Hurts has totaled 916 passing yards, 147 rushing yards, and seven total touchdowns in the Eagles’ victories over the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Washington Commanders. He has gelled nicely with offseason acquisition A.J. Brown, as well as continued strong partnerships with DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Miles Sanders.
The Eagles next host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in Week 4 action looking to keep their unbeaten start going.
