You would’ve thought he learned his lesson.
After fumbling late in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions, which later led to a go-ahead field goal, Ryan Mathews did it late again on Sunday in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 21-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Good thing the Eagles had a comfortable margin at that point, but these late fumbles are inexcusable.
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson appeared on the WIP Morning Show on Monday to discuss Mathews’ troubles of hanging onto the football.
“Yeah, it is a little concerning. He has to hang onto the ball in those situations and it’s something we’ve gotta continue to work with him and talk to him about, and put him in maybe a better situation where he can protect the ball. And I get the situation, he was also trying to stay in bounds at the time. It was a four-minute situation and even in that situation, if you’re that close to the sideline, I’m OK if you just get out of bounds. That’s the one thing we can’t do is turn the ball over in a four-minute situation.”
Mathews played well prior to the fumble. He ran the ball with more purpose and was decisive with his cutting.

He finished with 56 yards on 14 carries (4.0 YPC) and added a reception for 27 yards.
