It’s almost here, ladies and gentlemen. In a few short hours, LeSean McCoy and the Buffalo Bills will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at the Linc. As expected, the week leading up to the game has been filled with McCoy yapping about Chip Kelly and the Eagles in interview after interview. McCoy talked about how he wouldn’t be shaking Chip Kelly’s hand on Sunday. He spoke about standing by everything that he has said in the past about Chip Kelly. In fact, it’s gotten to the point where enough is enough already.
Former and current players came out during the week about McCoy’s sensitivity, the best of which was Herm Edwards eviscerating him on NFL Live. Come 1pm on Sunday, it all ends. We’ll find out if Shady will get his revenge or not.
But, who exactly is LeSean McCoy? We saw who he was when he was on the Eagles. We know of McCoy’s issues with his baby’s mama. And we know of the whiny, bitchy, LeSean McCoy now in Buffalo that feels scorned by the Eagles.
Tyler Dunne recently did a profile piece on McCoy and it was rather interesting. Among some of the juicy nuggets to come from it were some of the in season issues that Chip Kelly had with McCoy. From Dunne’s piece:
Kelly covets the “machine.” He outfits players in heart monitors, GPS devices and tracks their hydration by having them pee in a cup. He’s had players wear sleep-monitoring bracelets, saying athletes need 10-12 hours of rest a night for optimal performance. He wants players to wear white socks … McCoy initially wore black socks and taped them white. As an ESPN The Magazine story detailed before the 2014 season, McCoy bought into many methods behind Kelly’s madness.
The article would continue…
According to one source, Kelly was unhappy with McCoy when he threw away his personalized post-practice shake and at DeSean Jackson another time when he wouldn’t wear his sleep monitor. And when Kelly had a problem with McCoy – be it a comment in the media or a touchdown celebration – another source indicated he’d often have somebody else close to McCoy tell him to knock it off rather than address the back directly.
