Events Running Through the Weekend

 1. Closing Soon: Aladdin 

Where: Academy of Music, 240 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, July 1st

Broadway Philadelphia’s production of Aladdin is coming to a close this weekend. This breathtaking show features all the beauty and magic that made the feature animation famous. Bring your friends and family out for a show that USA Today heralded as “Pure Genie-Us” and escape to a whole new world.

2. Closing Soon: Photo Pop Philly 

Where: Philadelphia Building, 1315 Walnut St.
When: Runs through Wednesday, July 4th

Photo Pop Philly is an amazing new and interactive pop-up in which guests can walk through five distinct rooms fill with artistic displays. The curated exhibition is filled with many local artists, has selfie-worthy highlights, murals, and plenty of spots for you to take photos at.

3. Phillies Weekend

Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way
When: Friday, June 29th-Sunday, July 1st

The Philadelphia Phillies will be taking on the Washington Nationals this weekend in a three-game series. All you local baseball fans, come out to Citizens Bank Park to cheer the Phillies as they war with this NL East matchup.

4. Philly Movie Weekend

Where: Various locations
When: Runs daily through Monday, July 2nd

It’s officially Wawa Welcome to America Weekend in the city of Philadelphia. There will be tons of free events and festivals throughout the region over the next few days. One of the highlights is the free movie screenings nestled in several corners of the city. This Friday  E.T.  will be screened and SING will be the main event on Saturday. Rocky will be front and center on Philadelphia Museum of Art this Sunday.

5. Philadelphia’s Historic District’s Independence Day Weekend

Where: Museum of the American Revolution, 101 S 3rd St. and National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St.
When: Thursday, June 28th-Wednesday, July 4th

A couple of institutions in the Philadelphia’s Historic District will be celebrating the American’s independence over the next few days. This Friday, the Museum of the American Revolution will be having an Independence Day Celebration.  The National Constitution Center will be hosting an All-American Celebration. There will be family-friendly activities at all these events that will feature historic impersonators, crafts, music, discussions, interactive lessons, and more.

6. Free Museum Weekend

Where: Various locations
When: Thursday, June 28th-Sunday, July 1st.

Thanks to the Wawa celebratory weekend, several museums will have free admission this weekend. The National Constitution Center is free this Thursday.  Come to the  Eastern State Penitentiary on Friday. The First Bank of the United States will allow free and rare access this Saturday. Since it’s the first Sunday of the month, Philadelphia Museum of Art will have their usual pay-what-you-wish deal.

7. Red White and Blue Beer B-Q

Where: The Schmidt’s Commons, 1001 N. 2nd St.
When: Friday, June 29th, 5PM-8PM

This Friday night, The Schmidt’s Commons will be hosting a Red, White & Blue Beer-BQ. There will be plenty of lawn games, live music, DJs, BBQ food, cocktails, and brews provided by Urban Village Brewing Company. That same night there will also be a screening of the hit film E.T.

8. Chris Stapleton

Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd, Camden, NJ
When: Friday, June 29th, 7PM

Country singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton will be playing at the BB&T Pavilion this Friday night. The CMA and Grammy award-winner released the dual albums last year titled From A Room: Volume 1 and From A Room: Volume 2.  Stapleton will be singing the night away at this beautiful outdoor arena.

9. Pennsylvania Convention Center Community Festival

Where: Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch St.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 12PM-7PM

The Saturday, come out to the Pennsylvania Convention Center for the Community Festival of the holiday weekend. There will be a DJ dance party, a magic show, a performance by the Mummer’s String band, a dunk show, face painting, carnival games, and more. Enjoy the pop-up beer garden and oversized games and plenty other community activities.

10. Philly Ice Cream Scoop 

Where: Reading Terminal Market, 51 N. 12th St.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 11AM-5PM

Bring your friends and family out to the Reading Terminal Market this Saturday. Over fourteen ice cream brands and manufacturers will be on the premises making all of your ice cream dreams come true. There will be prizes, an ice cream eating contest, shuffleboard, photo booths, and more.

11. On the Delaware Music Festival 

Where: Pennypack On The Delaware Park, 7979 State Rd.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 11AM-8:30PM

This free music festival will one of the best features on the waterfront this weekend. There will be live music throughout the entire event, food trucks, a beer garden, yoga areas, a craft and art marketplace, and more. This community event will surely bring the masses out.

12. Soul vs. Brigade

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 7PM

The World Cup isn’t the only place to get your sports fix this weekend. You can see live hard-hitting athleticism at the Wells Fargo Center this Saturday when the Philadelphia Soul rival against the Baltimore Brigade. The Soul will be going for their seventh win of the season.

13. Red, White and Brew Fest 

Where: SugarHouse Casino, 1001 N. Delaware Ave.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 5PM-9PM

SugarHouse Casino will be hosting the Red, White and Brew Fest this Saturday evening. Hip-hop act Chill Moody will be doing a live performance, Xpogo Stunt Team will also be doing high-flying acrobatics, and more. Drinks and food will be provided by Fishtown Hops at this scenic day party.

14. WDAS Summer Block Party

Where: The Mann Center, 5201 Parkside Ave.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 7PM

There’s only one place to see Philly natives Jill Scott, Boyz II Men and DJ Jazzy Jeff this weekend. The WDAS Summer Block Party will feature these great acts in music and more. These multiple Grammy-winning artists will be providing some phenomenal signature vocals at this famed amphitheater.

15. Wawa Welcome America Penn’s Landing Fireworks

Where: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.
When: Saturday, June 30th, 8PM-10PM

This Saturday night on the Delaware Waterfront, the skies will light up with thousands of shimmering lights.  The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” will be holding a concert and there will be fireworks to cap the night.

16. Radio 104.5 Birthday Party

Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd, Camden, NJ
When: Saturday, June 30th, 1PM-11PM

This Saturday night Radio 104.5 will be celebrating their 11th birthday with an amazing music festival this Saturday night.  Imagine Dragons, Judah & The Lion, AJR, Sir Sly, Missio, The Wrecks, The Shelters, DREAMERS, and Glorious Sons will be putting on a ferocious and energetic show for thousands of their fans.

17. The Celebration of Black Arts

Where: Various locations
When: Runs through Tuesday, July 31st

Art Sanctuary Philadelphia will be kicking off its Celebration of Black Arts Festival this Sunday. The month-long cultural artisan showcase will have several events centered on and promoting black art in the community. There will be panel discussions, dance workshops, film screenings, and more.

18. Philly’s Phunniest 

Where: Helium Comedy Club, 2031 Sansom St.
When: Sunday, July 1st, 7PM & 10PM

The preliminary rounds are done and its time to move on to the quarterfinal rounds of the 2018 Philly’s Phunniest contest.  This comedic competition will crown the funniest comedian to grace the street’s of Philadelphia this year. If you’re looking for a night of laughs, stop by Helium Comedy Club.

19. Barnes Foundation’s Lets Connect Residencies

Where: Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy
When: Sunday, July 1st-Sunday, September 30th

In partnership with Mural Arts, the Barnes Foundation will put a spotlight on several local artists through September. Ast part of Let’s Connect, these amazing painters have won residencies at this world-class museum due to a combined public and curatorial vote. Also, this Sunday is PECO Free First Sunday Family Day: Summer Games. There will be arts and crafts, family games, a film screening, and more.
