Eagles-Jets Week 13 Predictions and Best Bets

This season, the Philly Influencer staff and contributors will be giving you their predictions and best bets!

The Eagles are coming off of a brutal loss against division rival the Giants. This week the Birds look to bounce back as they head back to MetLife Stadium and face the Jets. Can they rebound?

Here are the staff’s predictions and best bets:

Mike Diaz (@PhillyMike):

Still reeling from a loss at MetLife Stadium to a terrible Giants team, the Eagles have to go right back to the scene of the crime and play the even worse Jets. There is absolutely no reason the Birds should lose this game. After fooling around with the idea Hurts can be a QB who throws the ball accurately in the 1st half last week, I’d expect Nick Sirianni to lean heavily back into the run game early and often and get out of there with a win. The Jets are bad, but have beaten the Titans and Bengals – 2 playoff teams if the season ended today. Eagles win, but I don’t have the confidence in them right now to cover a 7 point spread.

Prediction: Eagles 24 – Jets 20

Bruce Vail (@BruceJVail):

Last week the Eagles may have lost but we sure did cash our Boston Scott anytime TD bet as he continues to cash in that stadium. Scott and the Eagles stay at the MetLife stadium this week for a clash with that other New York team..the Jets.

Historically the Eagles have dominated the Jets having an all time record of 11-0 against them. I think we get to 12-0 all time with a too close for comfort victory here. Hurts comes into this game a little banged up so that concerns me a little. But still, the Jets have an atrocious defense.

Prediction: Eagles 23 – Jets 14

Best Bet: Boston Scott anytime TD

Tim O’Keefe (@TKO_Picks):

Last week was a disaster. There’s no other way to put it. Luckily, the Jets are a complete disaster of a team, and this should serve as a bounce back week for the Birds. If the Eagles get back to an effective run game, and Hurst limits the turnovers, then there is no reason the Birds shouldn’t cruise to a victory here over an inferior opponent.

Prediction: Eagles 28 – Jets 14

Best Bet: Eagles -7

Mark Drumheller (@x_drumheller):

The Eagles learned that it takes a different level of mental strength when you are playing with expectation as opposed to playing as an underdog. The Jets are the perfect remedy to get this Eagles team back in the win column. New York’s worse half ranks 30th in team DVOA and 31st in Net EPA. Only the lowly Lions are worse. Speaking of Detroit, they are a prime example of Philly has won with margin this season when they were the superior team. The Birds last three wins have come by 38, 17, and 11 points. All double digit victories. Now we expect the Jets to keep it competitive?

The Jets defense is tailor made for the Eagles to exploit as they rank dead last in covering tight ends. Even if they sell out to slow down the rushing attack, they are most vulnerable to where the Eagles will look to funnel the offense. The 6.5 point line is a gift for Eagles bettors and is a classic example of recency bias. The Eagles coming off a bad loss combined with the Jets actually winning a game creates an advantageous situation for Philly bettors to load up and collect this Sunday.

Prediction: Eagles 34 – Jets 13

Larry Henry Jr. (@lhenry019):

The Eagles are not a playoff contender, but they should have more success this weekend against the lowly Jets. Jalen Hurts and the offense will need to be balanced in order to keep the Jets on edge and I expect a confident bunch to lead the way at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. If they somehow lose this game, the Eagles deserve to walk home from North Jersey.

It’s not that hard to understand, this is a game the Eagles have to win to maintain any confidence down the stretch. The rushing attack has been good over the last few weeks so maybe that leads the way, but Jalen Hurts also needs to be consistent for four quarters.

Prediction: Eagles 31 – Jets 10

Best Bet: Eagles total touchdowns O 3.5 (+150)

The PI Brew (@thepibrew):

I fell for the Eagles trap last week and I paid the price. I started to believe the hype, but the Birds brought me back to reality. The Giants took the Birds down in a key divisional matchup. This week, the Eagles head back to MetLife Stadium to do battle with the Jets. Oh man! What an exciting game this should be….said no one ever. On paper, this should be a cake walk for the Eagles, but at this point I’m trying to get through the season with as many good draft picks as possible. I like to have hope only for Howie Roseman to swoop in and probably draft us an under 5 foot wide receiver with the Eagles’ first pick. But back to this game, I’m not expecting it to be a good game and I can’t wait til’ it’s over. It’s time to drink the pain away.

Prediction: Eagles 0 – Jets 0

Sean Brace (@Sean_Brace):

I give up!! I can’t figure this team out. How the F did the Eagles lose last week to the Giants? What a brutal loss as we were finally starting to believe things we’re moving in the right direction. The Giants were begging the Eagles to win & it slipped through Raegors hands (2x).

On to this game vs the Jets… really? Run the ball right down their throats.

Prediction: Eagles 40 – Jets 14
