Upcoming Flyers games postponed due to COVID-19

The Philadelphia Flyers will have eight days off until their next game after the NHL postponed all games for the rest of this week on Tuesday.

Mike Yeo’s team was scheduled to host the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center, but due to rising positive COVID-19 cases in the Capitals squad, the league postponed the game. The team was also scheduled to visit rivals Pittsburgh on Thursday at PPG Paints Arena, but that too was postponed to a later date.

Washington had two skaters pulled from Tuesday’s morning skate which forced the league to make the decision about Tuesday’s game. The Flyers were seeking a second-straight win after defeating the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night.

Carter Hart, Ryan Ellis, and Derick Brassard all remain out for the Flyers due to separate reasons, but the ample time off could see them return for the West Coast trip to end the month. Hart has been out due to an undetermined illness while Brassard and Ellis both have respective injuries.

The Orange and Black will next hit the road for four-straight, starting with a December 29th showdown against the Seattle Kraken. San Jose, Los Angeles, and Anaheim will also square off with the Flyers over the next two weeks, before the team returns home on January 6 vs. Pittsburgh.
