A lot of Eagles content gets published each day, so here’s a recap of your Eagles news from this past week.
Draft grades are dumb and pointless.
Seriously.
You can’t avoid them in the first week following the NFL Draft either, it’s horrible. People are judging without the benefit of knowing if these kids will pan out. Sure, it felt like the Eagles reached on a couple of picks, but Jordan Hicks felt like a reach too and he was a defensive rookie of the year candidate prior to his injury. I would’ve preferred a couple of other running backs other than Wendell Smallwood, a couple of other guards other than Isaac Seumalo, maybe even would’ve liked a receiver, but I give every class a few years before I start chirping about it.
We just never know.
Obviously, the draft grade will be predicated on the success of Carson Wentz. He’s been handling himself phenomenally since being selected No. 2 overall last Thursday night.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the lovely mom’s out there. Enjoy your barrage of flowers and overpriced chocolates, those oh so delicious treats that pack on the calories, but I guess that’s what the zoomba class was for during the week. This day’s for you, enjoy it!

Speaking of the NFL Draft, here’s my grade-less recap.
There were plenty of posts about the Eagles’ shiny new toy Wentz and disgruntled incumbent starter Sam Bradford. Anthony Pinto put together a tremendous package about Philly Influencer’s thoughts on Wentz from the NFL Draft Party at Nick’s Roast Beef. Wide receiver Jordan Matthews thinks the Eagles drafted the right quarterback in Wentz, who was featured on the Sports Illustrated cover this week. I also speculated on how many games Wentz might start this season.
And about Bradford? Let’s just say not too many people are on his side.Former Eagles Brian Mitchell and Terrell Owens, along with NFL network analyst Heath Evans didn’t hold back from their opinions on Bradford. Eagles vice president of football operations Howie Roseman has apparently not talked to Bradford since drafting Wentz. Bradford might not be taking calls from Eagles brass, but he is talking to teammates and Connor Barwin expects him back sooner rather than later.
CSN Philly’s Rueben Frank may have had the most eye-popping take on Bradford this week, suggesting that the former No. 1 overall pick might retire.
The Eagles reportedly interviewed a “player personnel head.” It’d be nice to finally get that position filled and I think Joe Douglas would be a good hire.
Philadelphia has already signed most of its 2016 draft class. It signed five of its draft picks Wednesday and two more on Friday. The only pick not to sign, Mr. Wentz. Let’s get that deal done, fellas. The Eagles have also inked 16 undrafted free agents.
